More money than what?

A college student isn't exactly an earner...although of course, a foolish short sighted decision, but not one that most people would make really. I mean, would you swap your current life with that of someone on welfare? You are probably not super rich either. (a supposition yes, but one based on the fact that if you were super rich you wouldn't be worrying about saving immigration costs)

Not sure if I have this right, you said at college, but maybe it was a job and she wasn't a student.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Oh, don't bother, but I really don't believe anyone envies the position of people on welfare. It's not an idyllic life, there's nothing about it I would want.

More money than what?

more money than working. Re-read & maybe you will get it.

A college student isn't exactly an earner...

Where did I say she was in college? Also, you assume she made ####### $$.

I mean, would you swap your current life with that of someone on welfare?

Since when is this about me?

You are probably not super rich either. (a supposition yes, but one based on the fact that if you were super rich you wouldn't be worrying about saving immigration costs)

a. Assumption

b. where did I mention saving on immigration costs? Oh yes, I didn't.

Not sure if I have this right, you said at college, but maybe it was a job and she wasn't a student.

oh, wow, you CAN think before you post, but only after assuming things & jumping to conclusions.

Talk about missing the point. Never mind.

You made a blanket statement that no one wants to be on welfare & that the Reagan admin made up the term 'welfare queens'.

I stated I knew someone who did it. Then you proceed to question me, my life & my financials.

I replied to such accusations/assumptions then you say oh nevermind, you missed the point. That speaks volumes.

 Laughable.

You have missed the point. The idea behind 'welfare queens' is that there are thousands of people lazing around living on welfare because it's some easy life. That's simply false. Yes, you provided an anecdotal example but without context, and without knowing thousands of folks in the same position, it proves nothing.

The 'welfare queen' argument is a fallacy, because living on welfare isn't easy. comfortable or something that most people want to do permanently, why? Because it's not a good life.

I haven't jumped to any huge conclusions about your life except to say, I doubt you are super rich.

While I do not go around saying the "sound bite" you choose for this thread I will say there are at least 5 "hot dog stands" that have appeared in my part of Tucson in the 4+ years I have lived in this particular part of town, which has been my contention, they don't need to take jobs...they make their own (and probably don't follow standard business or health laws, where does one wash their hands at a hot dog stand?)

We have the taco stands by the boatload here in Houston too.

One of the trends I personally know about as far as the illegals go is that the legal immigrants often aid, abett, and enable the illegal ones. The legal ones open the business and employ their illegal paisanos.

My stepdaughter's ex boyfriend was from Kazahkstan. Later I learned he came over on a student visa and never even attended school. This is not uncommon. The American people would be outraged if the knew how common this happens. That and tourist visas are a common vehicle for eventual illegal immigration.

This guy worked as a limo driver for a legal Kazahkstani and also drove cars this legal Kazahkstani bought at auction for delivery for export from the Port of Houston to Kazahkstan. I'm sure they pay cash and no taxes are paid to the illegal drivers.

One afternoon I got a call from ICE at my home asking about my stepdaughter's boyfriend. My stepdaughter had forwarded this guy's mail to my house and ICE traced him back to my house for that reason. The ICE guy was pretty cool and we had a long conversation about my opposition to illegal immigration. I cooperated and tried to help him as best as I could, but my stepdaughter had broken up with the guy months before and I had been throwing the guy's forwarded mail away for months. I always thought something was sleazy with his mail coming to my house and confronted my stepdaughter about it before I even got the call from ICE. She gave me a bullshit story about he was staying with friends temporarily and would switch his mail later.

I told the ICE guy about the Kazahkstani that had been employing the illegal and who he was. The ICE guy told me he had questioned him, but the guy denied everything. The Kazahkstanis he had questioned all denied any knowlege of the illegal and refused to cooperate. Does this surprise anyone?

The ICE guy told me the only hope of catching the illegal is if he got arrested on an unrelated charge and it was learned that he had a Federal warrant. Fat chance if the illegal moved to a sanctuary city that refuses to cooperate with ICE.

This sucks and is all too common. These are the type of sleazeballs that the illegal alien cheerleaders want to give amnesty and a path to citizenship to. That is insane. Not exactly the kind of person I would want in my community. Liars and cheats.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

i see "welfare queens" nearly every day i go to work... i help to take care of their newly born infants... some of them dont even pretend to be doing anything other than having babies for more checks... parents confide a lot in their nurses/their baby's nurses... i will note that what you think of as a good life might not be the same as someone else (ie a "welfare queen")... many of these women have their hair and nails done weekly (quite elaborately) and wear plenty of "bling"... and seem quite pleased with that...

more anecdotal that wont prove anything, i suppose... but nevertheless, there it is

"True love is falling in love with your best friend,

and only then, will you find the meaning of happiness."
