I am sure she was not trying to intentionally offend anyone. But this is a forum chopped full of people who are in the process of learning English and might be self concious. I did not say her "joke" was offensive, I said it was in poor taste. I saw it as something like going to a forum for mothers with mentally challenged children and telling jokes about retarded people.

No, that's NOT the same at all. Bad analogy, imo.

If Nessa had posted it WITH the intention of offending I'd agree with you. Maybe it wasn't placed in the best place, but she didn't post it to offend. She has an accent herself and can actually understand the points made in that joke better than you or I.

Anyway, let's move on from this, we could go around in circles forever over this.

I have to applaud your honesty even though you mischaracterize the purpose of the thread. At least you acknowledge the attempt to derail the thread.

So far we have a big fat ZERO for people who have lost their jobs due to illegals but a few attempts at derailing by several members who have been spreading the misinformation of this issue.

my uncle owns a landscaping company and in the winter they don't do hardly anything at all. they make enough money in the summer where they don't have to work in the winter. as for the fall they cut firewood, rake leaves, get everything ready for winter I suppose. right now they're at our house cutting down a dead tree and clearing out the flower beds. as for illegal immigrants taking jobs I think it's silly. most of the time they work harder and longer hours for less pay than americans do. it makes me mad that they're here illegally sometimes because we had to go through so much stuff to get neil here (us less that a lot of people here I'm sure) but at the same time they are able to provide their families with a much better life than they would in their home country. I'd like to see a better system to keep track of illegals but without them I think we'd be paying more for a lot of things
