Im pretty sure muslims in muslim countries dont celebrate xmas, but do muslims in america or in interfaith relationships celebrate xmas? Just curious.

Chanukah is definately celebrated differently in america than it is in Israel and there was some adjustment for my hubby. He just cant understand the gifts, etc. There isnt really chanukah gift giving in israel. Last year was the first year our oldest son was really into chanukah but it kinda got out of hand with all of the toys that he had at the end. I have been holding back this year, havent really bought him any toys at all in the last 6 months or so, but making mental notes of everything I am going to get him for chanukah!

My hubby also thinks its outrageous and says that since he came from an extremely poor family he only had one toy growing up but his mother denies this. I dont know who to believe....

Hicham doesn't celebrate Christmas in a religious way and neither does my family, but he is all for getting presents. For us it's just a time to spend together as family and give eachother presents. I'm pretty sure he would celebrate anything as long as there was a gift certificate to a soccer store involved. :)

Hicham isn't a strict Muslim though so I don't know how it works for others.

We celebrate Christmas BUT the hubsters birthday is christmas day so he gets birthday presents while everyone else gets christmas presents. I grew up with Christmas and my son has grown up with it so I can't just pull it away from him. We have, however, been backing off the amount of things he gets.

But that is just us...

Happy Wednesday! Last day of October. Time for X-mas shopping! Has anybody started yet?

Yes I started Christmas shopping at the Holiday Fair this past weekend. Love it. It comes around every year sometime in October. Christmas music, lights, decorations and gifts galore. Kind of like a teaser for the holidays.

I so agree with you!! I love the music and lights and all but let's leave it until Thanksgiving like back in the day. If they keep backing it up a week or two pretty soon you'll have the holday stuff starting in July! My radio station did Christmas music today as it's Halloween costume. Thankfully tomorrow they'll be back to 'normal'.

I for one do not get irritated when they bring out the xmas decorations early. LOL actually I can't even wait to decorate. Speaking of Costco, I have been buying decorations since they put them out in September! I just bought a nativity set a few weeks ago, I can't wait to put it out!

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

I have this horrible fear of running out of candy for the kids. This is my first year to have my own lil ToT's, since Ive lived in the sticks every year previous. Ive bought no less than 15 bags of dum-dums and gum. Dum-Dums are getting pretty cool too, they now make blo-pop and tootsie-roll type varities. Then I bought 75 of those snap-light bracelets and 60 of assorted snap-light rings, barettes, necklaces, etc. Then I bought cute little Halloween foam stickers and spider, bat, and skull rings. And to round it all off I stuffed equal amounts of each into little cellophane goody bags complete with orange ties and little pumpkin tags. So if anyone lives in the DFW area, come to my house!

I initially bought 4 bags of candy a couple of weeks ago, those are pretty much gone now since my husband has been eating it morning, noon, and night. Especially those mini kitkats, he loves those. So last night I went out and got 6 more bags. So tonight, I'm gonna fire up my argeeleh, open the garage door, set out some chairs, and wait for the lil buggers to come get their candy.

I just HAVE to complain about the day I'm having.....

First of all it was complete chaos trying to get me and the boy out the door this morning. There is a big Halloween party at his school this afternoon that I signed up to bring the fruit tray for. (Note to self...buy the pre-made one next time) So rushing to get that done and pack two changes of clothes for my wildman because he used both changes of clothes that I brought for the WEEK on Monday! Then I had to chase him around the house to put his jacket on! AGH!!!

Get to work late. We've got a co-worker who is suddenly out all week so I'm having to help cover for her. End of the month is our busiest time. Leave to run to make a bank deposit and pick up the office mail and fill up my gas tank before the Halloween Costume Parade starts at our son's school at 10:30 (which had been changed from 9:30)!!! Get there with 2 mintues to spare.

I march with my little Tigger munchkin and trying to take pictures (half of which have part of his head cut off or half of his body or are totally blurry because he's moving) with one hand while I hold his hand in MY other hand...because if I let him go...he will RUN!

Let me back up to tell you I'm wearing the prettiest color tights today that go with my outfit and new shoes. Everything was going fine until I got the tights almost all the way on and they stopped short. I grabbed the packet they came in to make sure that I had gotten the right size. Yep...right size! Sooooo, I stretch them up and think maybe that will work. (Another note to self: if the tights/pantyhose don't fit IMMEDIATELY take them off and throw them in the trash!!!!)

During the parade, I could feel the tights start to roll down. Come on ladies, you know what I'm talking about...the death roll!!!!! And with every step I took, they kept rolling a little more and taking my undies with them too!!!!!! Of course I couldn't try and pull them up while all of the parents were watching (because we were in front of the pack). Once the march stopped and the kids got in their groups, I swear it felt like everything had rolled to my thighs!!!! I was so relieved when the teachers took the kids back to their classrooms. I cannot tell you the talent it takes to walk away from a group of people with your tights and undies practically to your knees!!!!!

I've been fighting a losing battle with these tights all day and I can't go out and get another pair from the store. To top it all off, I've got to go back to our little boy's school for the big Halloween Party for Round 2!!!!!!

I'm hoping that maybe, just maybe, there will be a little magical pumpkin at the Halloween Party that has valium in it for the parents!!!!!!!!

I started out with 4 bags of candy and it just snowballed from there. I started making the goody bags and realized things werent evening out. I didnt want to be known and "Chincy Old Lady Ellaoui", so I went back to the dollar store and bought more stuff to even out the bags. Thats when I find another goody that just has to go in there, too and wind up buying even more ####### to make sure all the bags have one. Thank goodness for the dollar store, too. I must've spent 30 bucks there on ####### that would have cost at least twice as much at walmart. But this is all too much fun. I cant wait to see what the kids wear tonight.

Allousa,,,I am sitting at my desk laughing at your tights story. I have also felt the 'death roll'

J (F)

Death roll? I seriously don't know what you guys are talking about!:whistle::whistle: LOL that reminds of the part in that movie "My big fat greek wedding" where the mom tells the daughter not to buy her queen size panty hose because they make her look fat.

Allousa  I can totally relate--it used to happen all the time to me when I was working as a Verizon rep but it wasn't pantyhose, it was JUST my underwear! Luckily most of the time I was wearing pants but sometimes walking out to my car I could feel them just sitting on the middle of my thighs and hoped no one noticed as I went across the parking lot!

-hugs-

I hate tights & pantyhose...lol

Divorced. To hell with him.

 LMFAO! I have that old song "The wanderer" stuck in my head with slightly altered lyrics. ~Yeah I waddle around, round, round, round. Im the waddler....~
