Hi all.

I have been living in Turkey for the last 4 months with my fiance and his parents. I am planning to head back to the states in a few weeks and start the K-1 process, but before I do so I wanted to be sure that we are not eligible to apply for DFC via Turkey. I am not a resident of Turkey (don't work in Turkey or own property) and have been here on a tourist visa which we have renewed once by taking a Trip to Cyprus and back.

Does anyone know how strict Turkey is on the residency rules? Like I said, we're planning on doing the K-1 route, but if this is an option for us then we'll look into it a bit more.

Thanks for the info!

The general rule is six months' residency in the country, but your best bet is to call the embassy there and make sure - they may accept the tourist visa you've been on as residence or they may not. You would need to get married before filing the I-130 in Ankara.
