So Kevlar really does work.

I couldn't help but read this story and think about that scene in "Saving Private Ryan" where the guy is on the beach and the bullet bounces off his helmet, only to be head-shot again seconds later.

This news article is an awesome illustration of the moral conundrum posed by the Iraq war. Here we are presented a story about one of our "heroes" who was literally a 1/4 inch away from death, after he had just shot a guy for "fiddling with some wires."

Either way, this is an awesome story, and proves that Patton was right. Helmets save lives when properly worn in the field. I know I'll never forget the sound of Kevlar being dropped on a hard floor or a couple helmets being banged together. That's one of those sounds that nothing else in the world sounds like.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
