Hey guys

I'm getting married in less than two weeks and i'm thrilled

I have a question though. After I marry and will be willing to change my name, can I file all of the AOS paperwork with my new last name? And if yes, will there be a problem to travel if I will have a green card with his name and my passport with mine?

I'm confused

If you wish to change your name after marriage then yes do file your AOS papers in your married name as to change it later is a right royal pain in the... and costs more money.

For travel, take passport, greencard/or AP and marriage cert with you and you should be fine. Make sure that tickets are purchased in the name on your passport until you can get that changed.

Nit had her name changed in her passport by the immigration office per advice from the US consul, both of her petitions are filed in my last name. We did not want to take the risk of changing her name here, the USCIS is too bloated and screwed up.

You can definitely file your AOS paperwork in your new last name.

For travel purposes, bring a copy of your marriage license. Make sure to book the tickets in the same name as your passport though, if not that might cause a lot of hassle at the border.

You may want to check to see if you can change your passport to your married name here in the states. otherwise you have to travel with a copy of the marriage certificate with you.

Knzaza!

It's so wonderful that you are in the states and your wedding is coming right up. If my memory serves me, you might be in Maine?

Let me know. I'm living in Portland right now.
