Well I think the waiting 90 days for a receipt number is a bit silly, so...... Are there any consequences to playing forgetful and claiming it has been around 90 days? I mean the personnel over the phone can't do things to your account can they?

What are you asking exactly? You can phone anytime you like. Doesn't mean they'll tell you anything.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I'm awaiting my NOA1, and its been about 45 days. USCIS won't give me the info for another 45 days...but if I lie and say it was sent about 90 days ago then they will turn to their database and look up my last name date of birth etc.

You can call as often as you wish. its the same gamble you take when doing business with anyone in customer service. Always afraid to piss someone off for fear they may possibly sabotage your merchandise or service. They most likely wouldn't do anything to your petition. The worst that could happen might be them giving you bad service manners. You can simply say that its been very long since you sent the petition. Perhaps you just dont remember. They will check for you. Good luck. Sorry you've waited so long for the first notice.

I've actually been tempted to do this myself. Like tell them "I think it's probably been about 90 days but I don't remember exactly when I sent it." I'm not quite to that point yet, but if it hits 60 days and my check hasn't been cashed yet (I'm at 48 days now), I might just get a little forgetful and take my chances. If anyone's done it already, I'd like to hear the story.

Edit: One thing I have heard is that once they start a 90 day investigation, they ask you to wait another 30 days for results. *sigh*

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

45 days to get your 1st NOA is a long time, so I wouldn't feel bad at all about checking and I wouldn't worry about pissing them off, I'd be more worried that something is wrong. Do you have any proof that they even received your packet? UPS or certified mail delivery receipt? Did they cash your check?

CALL them that is what they are there for and that is what you pay taxes for! AND besides the customer service location is not even remotely near or does not have any involvement in handling your case, they are only answering questions and looking at a computer screen or database.
