Good Day!

I came to the US in Febuary 2007 under the K1 Visa petition. My petitioner and I got married in March 2007. I recently got approved for my Lawful Permanent Residency application and am currently waiting for my green card to arrive by mail. My Phillippine passport on the other hand is expiring in November 2007.

My question is: Should I file 3 different applications (3 different forms) and pay 3 different fees for the following:

Report of Marriage

Passport Application (for Renewal)

Passport Amendment (for change of personal information such as maiden name to married name)

I would greatly appreciate your response to this matter. Thanks.

Yes you have to pay for every application. If your passport is not yet expired you don't have to file for renewal just the Amendment to Change Name, if its already expired you can renew it and change name at the same time no need for Amendment. Hi! I called the Phil. Embassy last time regarding with this and it depends on your situation. I am divorced from my foreign husband and I want to change my surname. Since my passport is still valid until November they told me to apply for ammendment and have to apply for report of marriage to the embassy. But...they told me I cannot change my surname until I become a US citizen. And they will only provide me a certificate to carry my married name. Because according to them DIVORCE is not accepted to our country. I am confused with their answer so I tried to call another state Phil. Embassy but they told me Divorce is accepted in the Phils. if you were divorced by your foreign husband. I don't know the real answer with this. Till' now I am not doing actions because I am still waiting for the result of my application for adjustment of status. And plan to to go to the embassy after I have all the necessary I.D and I think it would be better. Well, anyway If I were you ...I'll call the nearest Embassy and inquire your situation.Just want to share you my experienced .Goodluck!

Who filed for the divorce--you or your ex-husband? It makes a difference.
