Hi all forum's lovers!

I want to start a new topic regarding the benefits of Permanent Resident Card holders. :pop:

What do you all know about the benefits of GC holders and what are the differences between PR card holders and citizens?

once you get your 10 year card, you don't have to deal with USCIS for a loooooooooooong time again! :)

If you decide to apply for citizenship and get it, you can then vote in any election (only citizens can vote, PRs cannot), you can get federal gov't jobs that are available only to citizens, and if your spouse dies, you would inherit their social security. I believe PRs do not.

As a permanent resident you are required to carry your green card. As a citizen you do not need to carry an ID (although it is recommended)

Voting is pretty cool.

You can not get deported for a felony as a citizen.

I am sure there are a million other things.

Regarding the death of a spouse, probate laws and inheritance taxes greatly favor USC over LPR.

05/27/2008 Lifting of Conditions sent (TSC > VSC)

06/03/2008 Check Cleared

07/08/2008 INFOPASS (I-551 stamp)

07/08/2008 Driver's License renewed

04/20/2009 Lifting of Conditions approved

04/28/2009 Card received in the mail
