Age Difference An Issue?

Hi All,

Personal opinions welcomed here ...

There's 15 years between me and my fiance, which to us isn't an issue, but to an immigration official it might be a biggie that raises whatever flags these things raise.

Do you guys think this will be an issue to get our NOA2 and if and when we get through that, should we attend the interview in London together so they can see us as a couple?

I think that they aren't there to judge a couple's precieved suitability rather just that relationship is stable, on-going and, above all, genuine. In which case, we have no problems at all - we have been living together for 2+ years after all.

Let me know what you guys think!!!

R & M,

Age difference is not an issue - there are folks here on VJ with 20 and even 30+ years difference who had no problems.

Plenty of couples with large age gaps have been approved for the K1. And in a low fraud country, such as the UK, it shouldn't be an issue at all. We have a large age gap, too, but aren't concerned that it will be a problem.

Thanks everyone - I'll be prepared for the questions if they come but I'm glad to know this won't be a stumbling block.

I don't know about you guys but 6 months of waiting and pondering can raise some strange issues ....

Of course age difference is an issue. It's part of the overall picture of bona fides but in and of itself, age difference isn't a reason for denial. You don't mention whether the man or woman is older. That makes a difference too.

With the intending immigrant being Irish, I wouldn't expect a lot of scrutiny of bona fides. Ireland isn't a high fraud area. So, I doubt it will be a problem in your case unless say the intendint immigrant is 18 and the female USC is 33. Even then in and of itself, probably no problem.

Make that a 23 year old middle eastern male with a 38 year old USC female and you have another story.

The rest of the circumstances matter but I doubt there's reason to worry in your case.

Facts are cheap...knowing how to use them is precious...

I am going to have to agree with Pushbrk here, blanket statements that "you will be fine" could be a bit misleading without the other qualifiers (such as - low fraud post, man older than woman, etc, etc.)

In your case OP, most likely it won't be an issue due to the few circumstances you have listed, but its is entirely possible for some others reading this post that it very may well be an issue to overcome.
