I just had a look at the DS-230 I filled out - the one with the expiry date of 07/31/07 - probably the same one you filled out.

I notice on NVC's site that the new one now shows an expiry of 09/30/2010 - so yes that's new.

Not sure what the differences are. You can download and fill out the new form by selecting your consulate from the drop down menu here.

Ok, can I take that back?

Looking more closely at the form, although nothing has changed except the date, D.O.S. failed to remove the "Previous Editions Obsolete" message from the bottom, so I guess your attorney is technically correct.

I still think NVC will accept the version with the old date for some time. Furthermore, luckily only pages 1 and 3 display the new date and message, so you could still use the signature on page 2 of the "old" version (which is the same as the new one) with a reprint of page 1 from the new version if you need to.

Re-do pages 1/3/4 for extra good measure.

I don't think the version date really matters, since nothing changed on the forms, and I would not be surprised if NVC and D.O.S. continued accepting the old OMB dated form despite the message.

Again, I'm very sorry about my initial, premature remarks...

My DS-230 package was delivered to NVC yesterday. I used the old form. I will be so pissed off if they issue an RFE because of this.

Zil, that would suck if the do issue an RFE. Many people must be in that boat. I hope they are reasonable and understand that some of the the old forms may have been sent in already....they should slowly phase out the old ones.....Good luck.

I was going to mail the Ds-230 (the old version) tomorrow that has my wife's signature. Now, I think I should wait for couple of days to see if yours goes through their system. Please keep in touch and let me know if their message changes to "NVC has recived the biograhic forms on ...". I hope you won't get RFE. I am going to watch this thread. Good luck to all!!

I read this before that the date on OMB is only for the internal use that when they should change the form(I mean make a new one). And I also read that whenever there is new form, the old one is useable for couple of months. So, I do not think it will be a problem. I do not even think that people in NVC are so efficient that they will even be reading that date. Most of them will not be even aware that there is a new form.

it might be a good idea to call an NVC operator and see what they say. tell them that you just received your spouses DS-230 and were going to send it in today but the new DS-230 has been posted and ask if the old one can still be used. it would be beneficial to all of those on VJ wondering the same question.

Natashenika,

I hope everything works out for you!!!

I've just looked at Ds-230 form and there are some yellow highlights. What are they for? Should I leave them yellow in my Ds-230 or print it black and white ?

MARIYA, the same was with old DS230 version...You can print it regularly..What can I say, yesterday after we mailed DS230 (old version) with original docs I found out about new version. ..and at once sent the new one to my husband- just in case if it will be a problem.. .It would be ridiculous if just because of date they would not accept the documents and send us RFe because everything is the same.. But on the other hand not so long time ago they made changes in process and many of us got RFe and had to send original documents..So NVC already showed what they can do ..So I wouldn't be surpised if once again they would laugh at us...Their game- they making the rules... Good luck to all
