I was just wondering two things, My SO and I are putting our k1 visa together and we have been watching couples who have been sending their K1 to Vermont and getting approved months before the califonia center.

also, couples are send their k1 visa to chicago, I'm from Chicago, is there a center here I can send our k1 to???

I'm jealous that Vermont is getting approved faster, wish I could change my residents for a few months!!!

I-129F is also used as part of the K-3 visa and there is also another form I-129 thats used for certain work visas. You need to send your petition to Vermont or California depending on your state.

Vermont was really fast, approvals within 1-2 months, however, its slowed down as well.

You are probably confusing this with the CIS offices.

You have to mail the K1 petition to Vermont,Texas,California or Nebraska depending on where you live (State)

Besides my petition got approved almost in a heartbeat in California, took 5 months alltogether,it was faster than some Vermont filers. It all just depends.

For those of us who are K-3/4's, after we mailed the I-130 packages to the CSC, and received the NOA-1, we then mailed our I-129F package to the Chicago, IL P.O. Box address. This was just a lock box where the mail was sorted and then forwarded to the NBC in Missouri, before being tranferred to the appropriate regional service center.

Now, since July, the I-129's are routed to the service center directly, and the step of going to the Chicago address is eliminated. If you look at the K-3 Guide here at VJ, it speaks to this change.

And yes, those who lived in the VSC area of responsibilty, had much faster service than the other service centers, up until a few months ago. Now Vermont is running close to the same as the CSC.

I think everyone can be assured that with the new processing fees and the filing rush associated with it, neither Vermont nor California Service Center is running at its optimal speed right now.

Approval time for California and Vermont is almost the same right now, about 140-150 days. Getting you petition to NVC is quicker in Vermont ( about two days) vs California (about 35 days).

Ours was filed at Vermont and approved after three weeks on the 22nd, hard copy of NOA2 and all. We must be the exception, I guess.
