Hi there, so I sent my papers and within 10 days I had my extension notice and my biometrics appointment which will be on Friday. Here are my questions:

What exactly are biometrics?

what are they needed for?

will they give me something to mail to the USCIS or do they take care of everything?,

and also, I am a little nervous about the processing times here in California, my hubby would like us to travel next year around April a "World tour" he says, we might be out of the country around 6 months since he wants us to visit my family for a few months too and I am really anxious about leaving without my 10 year green card...

Any thoughts?

Thanks guys I appreciate your help.

Hi! I also have a question about the biometrics! Is there a way to do the biometrics without an appointment letter?

How can you tell if your petition has been 'touched'? Does anyone have any news on the TSC and the speed at which its moving?

Thanks so much!!!

You can travel using the extension letter until you get your 10 year GC.

They'll take you picture [smile as it will be on your 10 year GC.]

Finger prints also.

You don't have to do anything. Normally only take a short while for the whole trip.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

No, you need to have an appointment letter in order to get biometrics done. The ASC staff will scan the barcode on the appointment letter before they take your biometrics. Without that barcode, there is no way for your fingerprints, picture and signature to merge up with your I-751 file.

Touches can be checked by signing up for an online Case Status Service account here. You will have to wait for the biometrics appointment letter as the case number on there is what will work.

If you have not received your biometrics letter yet after all this time, perhaps you should make an INFOPASS appointment to check whether they have already sent one but you just haven't received it.
