Wuhoo. Great news guys! Layla's visa was approved!!! :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance: :dance:

We got a token to come back to the Embassy to pick up the passport w/ Visa tomorrow at 2PM. Heading over to try to book a ticket back home for her! I am flying back Friday, hopefully with her. I won't be totally relieved til we have it in hand (the interviewer ominously said she could pick up her visa if the computer system doesn't malfunction and fail to print the visa).

Will post more details on the interview later.

We started this process with one days difference and our wives will enter the country with less than a weeks difference. Both journey's took just over a year.

Ed, it is amazing to be through this finally. Quite amusing that our journeys tracked so closely too.

Layla and I pick up the Visa in a few hours, we have the booking for tomorrow, just need to get that visa in hand, then we go home.

Congratulations to those who recently got approve and my thoughts and prayers are worth those still waiting. No matter how hard it gets always remember...it will be worth the wait!

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

I don't check in here everyday so I just learned of your wonderful news Urge!!! I am so happy for you, it's about time!!! It must feel wonderful to be with your wife knowing you are about to bring her home. The last two months or so seemed to have gone fast for me, I hope you feel that way too. I remember how upset you were that the interview was so far away.. you made it and conquered!

Thank u all for your well wishes. Our interview is in five days and I feel confident that we're getting that visa. I'm not going to the interview so I'm really longing to see him again! Thank you pkewl, urge and pkewl. You guys have been there from the start, I'm still so grateful for having filed at the same time as such wonderful people as yourselves and so many others!

Edp, thank God this is almost over but I share your sentiment.. no celebrations until that visa is in hand. There have been too many disappointments to turn a blind eye to Murphy's Law at this point although I am confident that the last mixup was the last visa related disappointment you will have!

Thanks wintime and divinemercy. I am floating over here. We made it home Friday night... finally. Yes, Kathryn, the last couple of months did go by fast. Once I started preparing for my wife's potential arrival (new furniture, cleaning, other chores) the time really flew. God willing, you will have great news to share in 2 days!!

For me, today I start filling out the AOS forms (I have to jump over that the AOS forum and see if our gang has a thread going over there). We are still waiting for Kelly and gogo to finish off this thread. We have waited so long, I bet there are fresh April 2008 filers who pop in here thinking this is a new thread for their cohorts, only to realize some of us have waited for 1 year+. It really is time to retire this thread. :yes:

Kelly will be right along after June 2. That is my husband's interview date. I am going to Nigeria to support him. Will be leaving May 28 and returning June 4. The habit has been of late that they pick up their visa 7 days after their interview. My husband's is on a Monday, so I assume he will be picking his up the following Monday. There has been a surprising amount of approvals coming out of Lagos lately, so maybe it won't be as bas as I thought. We are very prepared, and they do look at organization of data as well as the interviewee's demeanor, so we should be fine. I will let everyone know how things went either while still in Nigeria or when I return.

I agree that this thread needs to die. After me, Gogo is the only one left. I wish him Godspeed and good luck.

I got my VISA last week. :dance:

I am sooooooooo happy. :)

it was a very easy interview in the Embassy. Finally, this hard way is finnished.
