Hi, there --

My NOA2 came through after 187 days, effective December 21. Questions for those who know:

1. Is it more proper or effective to call USCIS (grrrrr) to learn whether they have sent the file to the NVC, or to call the NVC periodically to learn whether they've received it?

B. If the NVC is a toll call, it could be expensive, depending on "time spent on hold"; is there a set of digits that can be punched into the phone without having to listen to the recorded explanations of all the options? If so, what is the set of digits, please?

iii. Does the NVC have a bunch of uncaring, rude, know-nothing clowns initially screening calls as USCIS does? If so, is there a combination of phone buttons to punch that will bypass the clowns and take a caller directly to someone with true knowledge?

d. If I am calling the NVC for the first time, what information do I need to provide in order for the NVC to research my case -- the USCIS "WAC" number, or my fiancee's Alien Registration Number, or something else?

5. Are there any other "insider" tips to know?

Thanks for your advice!

TboneTx, actually when I spoke to the NVC people they were alot different from CSC. I do believe its a pay call and the best time to telephone them is in the evening. Good luck and our application was only at the NVC for two days and then sent electronically to the embassy.

I had the best luck with calling NVC. They are super nice and helpful. USCIS people are sometimes like space cadets, don't know why exactly, but they weren't on the top of things.

The trick with NVC is to get in the call queue, so you need to dial few times until you get in. If they say that they will return you to the automated service, hang up immediately and call again until they tell you to wait for the next operator .

I call every day, so I press 1 for english, then 2 for K visa and listen what the voice says. After you get in the queue, it takes 3-4 minutes for the operator to answer.

I JUST FOUND OUT THAT THE USCIS SENT OUR CASE TO NVC ON DECEMBER 21st!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but, NVC doesn't have it yet?????????????

ok. at least we are moving.

This response and the one prior are very helpful. Gracias! Do I still need answers to the other questions, or are things so simple that I'm worrying over straw dogs?

TboneTx, it took about a week before CSC released our K3. I would begin to check on your K3 next week at the NVC. When the K3 is finally away from CSC the process begins to go much smoother. The NVC electronically sends out the paperwork to the embassy. The NVC completed our K3 on December 14, 2007 and sent it electronically to the embassy. In the afternoon of December 17,2007 the embassy received our K3. On December 20, 2007 I contacted the embassy to schedule our Interview day and its January 17, 2008 at 8:15 AM. (THANK YOU OUR GOD!!!) So, when you finally escape CSC things do move much faster!!

Good luck!!

Update:

Meryll received her packet IV Friday morning on December 28. NVC sent my packet IV out on December 10 and it has not arrived yet.

I also sent documents, proof, and pictures out today. The package only weighed 1 pound 8 ounces. I hope this is enough proof for USEM.

Adding to the current conversation, NVC does not have a toll free number so calling them you pay whatever long distance charges apply to your phone.

Hi to all, and congratulation to any one who had a good news for their case,

Sorry I have been away busy with my job and my school(final exams), here is the update on my case

- I emailed the embassy imm. info. email and an auto reply came telling me that they are going to be closed for holydays

- Just yesterday I got an email from the Embassy after stating that they have received the electronic file, and that they have mailed me the information + packet (I would assume packet# 3)

- I am waiting to see what my wife will receive then send her all the forms papers that I have prepared in express mail.

But does any one know what is the electronic file? I thought they should get the actual physical file not electronic file.

Edited by wintime

Wintime, NVC sends an electronic file to the Embassy before sending the actual physical file, which arrives at the US Embassy before DHL delivers the actual physical file. Once the actual physical file is sent, it takes DHL 3 to 6 days average to deliver the shipment.

peonyflowers99,

Congrats.:thumbs: Glad everything worked out. I will include this in the next update.

I've been away for a few days, congrats to everyone on their progress.

My Honey, I remember your frustration in getting your approvals from CSC, now look, you will have your interview sooner than many of us who were approved weeks before you. Everything has a way of working itself out, cheers and best of luck!

KingsleyPrincess,

I now March seems like it is forever and a week, but really its not that far off. At least you have your interview date. Our petition got the embassy on Nov 18, and we are still waiting for them to schedule an interview date. They are saying they will schedule it and send out notice by the end of Jan, so we are looking at a Feb interview at the earliest - for me I would be happy to have a date.
