Hi:

I filed 8 months ago for an AOS (Green Card). I have since filed for and obtained AP and also the EAD, so I can go on working and leave the country and come back in. I've had the medical and biometrics. But there is no sign of an interview. The biometrics were in July?? and that's the last I heard. I have checked the case no. online numerous times, but of course only see the very general processing times description.

In browsing a few posts, I see people applying, and getting the green card as soon as 3 months later.

Is this unusual? Having called the CIS [uN]Help line before, I hardly think they will be much help now. Is there anything I can do to find out more?

Is it possible they won't interview, and will go ahead and send the green card in the mail?

Thanks!

Would you say that EVERYBODY gets their card in three months? Or in your browsing, would you say that just SOME people get their card in three months?

EVERYBODY? No, of course not. But I'm no expert. Maybe someone will reply, for whom it took 2 years!?? I'm just asking, how long, on average, does it take?

There seems to be no rhyme or reason why some people get their GC sooner than others. When you checked on-line did it say your case has been transferred to CSC? You won't probably have an interview if that's the case. Where is your local office? You might check others that have gone through

your local office to see how soon they were getting an interview. I applied in April, and as you can see by my timeline, received my GC at the end of

August. I wasn't transferred, but had my interview in St. Louis. Sometimes there are name check holdups. There is also the issue recent fee increases, which put timelines way off now. I can't remember what it said on my NOA1, but if you had your biometrics done in July, and it's now October, maybe after 90 days you could make an infopass appointment and ask what's going on.

Hope you hear something soon!

You're lucky you have your AP and EAD, and can work and travel now.

You did get a reply from someone that took 17 months to process the AOS, and here (me) is another that so far, is 24 months. Majority do not wait this long though, but really, it can take 2 months to 4 years. Of course the lower end of the spectrum is more heavily weighted.

You should be able to get to a 2nd level IO if you call and you are 30 days past the 6 month processing date. Chances are you aren't though.

Where did you get the 6 month processing date from?

Tab down to your local office in "field offices" and scroll down to the heading for I-485's.

My husband was the one for whom it took 17 months to get his card.

You have no timeline information. We can't tell if your adjustment is filed based upon a visa or if you are filing stateside from entry to the US. If you are filing based upon a marriage after a stateside entry, you will likely have an interview. If your petition was transferred to California, you likely will not have an interview.

That's for employment based applications, there are no strict timelines for family based as they're supposed to be worked in the order they are received.

It took us 3years after filing AOS but interview lasted 10 min. Each case is handled differently so anything is possible.
