Do I need MMR jab?

I had measles (twice!), mumps and rubella when I was small. Am I still going to need the MMR jab for the medical exam? How do I prove to the doctor that I had the diseases?

Have your blood titer for measles drawn. If you have measles, or the immunization the antibodies will show and you won't need another shot.

unfortunately, most often the titer-test to show the antibodies is more expensive than the immunization shot....

OK, so I'd need some sort of medical proof that I'd had all 3 diseases. Does it matter if you have the shot when you've got the antibodies? Will it do anything bad to me, or will it turn me into some sort of superwoman

i had to get the stupid shot (and after all, i had all 3 immunizations already, but for the admission at the university of arizona, they need to be less than 5 years old). i survived, and i'm unfortunately NOT a superwoman.

Thanks tucson_chick. Looks like the easiest thing to do is to have the MMR jab rather than fiddle about with titer tests. As long as it doesn't do anything bad to me then I'm opting for the simplest hoop to jump through...
