Stupid question about ongoing relationship

Hi everyone,

As I have previously mentioned here, my fiancee and I are looking to the K-1 journey soon. Since we want to file the petition on my next trip in mid-November, I am already dealing with the whole paperwork and the explanations.

It appears that one necessity is the proof of an ongoing relationship, by proving that you met in person in the past 2 years.

OK, here is my "problem": I met my fiancee back in March 2007, and proposed to her in September 2007, after 6 months. When we file in November, we'll be dating for 8 months and I visited her 5 times in that period. Plus, there is an upcoming trip to Germany for her in December.

Is this colliding with the 2-year rule as stated in the I-129F instructions ? Do we HAVE to date for at least 2 years in order to file that petition ? Or is is "possible" to file that petition after 8 months of dating only ??

I'm sorry, I'm just confused

Regards,

Daniel

No...You just have had to met within 2 years prior to filing.

No problem. Won't be the last time!

LOTS of confusing info in the process.

You are looking GOOD for the embassy interview with all the trips you will have registered.

Save all receipts of your trips plus pictures.

Evidence of a ongoing relationship will come up at the embassy interview.

A couple pictures of you and mate together at a landmark for the initial petition helps establish having met also.

A "couple" emails and chats doesn't hurt also.

Snails mails are sometimes looked at at the embassy interview also.

Yeah it sucks writing them in this day of Hi tech but make it your "job" to fire off one a week or so. Even just a card.

Even compose some emails in a way showing your love for each other. Spicy but not TO spicy! :innocent:

Make the process like a job. Think about every move you make thruout the process and how it will be interpreted at at the embassy. When you have a picture taken. Think about how much proof it adds to showing a bonafide relationship. Pictures with your mates friends and family are hi on the list.

More ammo the better!
