If you did that illegaly, and got caught, you would more than likely spend mandatory jail time in Mexico and a jail in Mexico is not anything as nice as a US prison.

Stop making sense. The socialists and hardcore leftists just don't understand the OTHER SIDE of every argument.

I know many American feel this is no excuse and we should deport them all but we don't agree. There has to be some middle ground.

They tried the so called "middle ground" in 1986 and 6 times after that. There have been 7 illegal alien amnesties since 1986 that have rewarded millions of permanent residencies to illegal aliens that have broken our laws. Enough is enough!

Insanity is doing the same thing over...and over...and over...and expecting a different result. No more amnesty rewards.

A vast majority of the American people are sick and tired of the illegal aliens (and in particular the government of Mexico) formulating and controlling US immigration policy. The Mexican government does everything it can to meddle in and undermine US immigration law enforcement to the detriment of my country. And George Bush (and many others) have aided and abetted this lunacy in defiance of the vast majority of the American people.

At this point...it's high time to really enforce the law and quit playing games. Nobody listens to games. Credibility begins and ends with real enforcement of laws that have been on the books since the so called immigration reforms of 1986 and 1996.

Let the chips fall where they may and let the hair go with the hide. It needs to be done...now! The illegal alien party needs to be over. It won't take mass deportations. Start with consistently enforcing existing laws. It's never been tried. If they can't work or access social services...the illegals will go home.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995

If you think about it, those people who are sympathizing with illegal immigration are actually supporting an inequitable society. People that come into this country through the legal channels are fully protected by the rights and privileges of their legal status. The illegal immigrants exist in a quasi legal status, that encourages their exploitation and abuse. They pay into social security on bogus SS numbers, and will never receive any benefits. They are protected by none of the workplace standards, ie working hours, safety, health etc that legal workers are. They have no incentive to assimilate into the culture and therefore their path to social and professional promotion is blocked. Truth be told, supporters of LEGAL immigration are actually ensuring equality for all.

7 amnesties and they haven't even fixed the core problem yet. Even if they grant another amnesty, it will only be a short period of time before the next one comes along. Everyone should focus on fixing the issue at hand first, then deal with illegals that are here.

there is middle ground. DO IT THE RIGHT WAY! get a visa! and don't expect the US taxpayers to support the worlds poor.

That's hilarious. The US government and by extension taxpayer keeps plenty of the world in poverty, not the other way around.

Lots of people left my county looking for a better life, and went to America. They worked hard and were welcomed becuase the country needed the labour. These days I can't just get on a boat and show up. So I don't. But I know that if I lived in the poverty that my ancestors grew up in, I would be on a boat to somewhere better, the second I could. It would just be my bad luck that I decide to do so after the land grab is over, and the people who got there first don't want anyone else to come and ruin the party.

And by the way, I wouldn't be ruining the party. Most illegal immigrants pay taxes, but cannot recieve the benefits that they bring becasue of their lack of status.

Well said! Wow! :thumbs::yes:

That dog don't hunt. The illegal crowd causes a net costs this country to the tune of around $10 billion p.a.

You know, I'm not really on either side because I can see good points on both sides. However one thing everyone has failed to point out is that many illegal immigrants have figured out how to get around paying uncle sam. First off, on thier W4's they claim several dependents in order to get the least amount of taxes taken out of their checks and when they actually file their taxes (if they do) they also claim several dependents and get a refund which is usually a larger amount than what they actually paid in taxes during the year.

I know this from first hand experiance. I worked in a company that hired many illegal immigrants. There are even tax firms that specialize in this kind of thing. I'm not saying all illegal immigrats do this, but it is widely practiced.

While that may be true, Social Security and Medicare deductions are not adjusted according the number of exemptions.

That doesn't take away the net cost, Steven. You know what net cost means, don't you?

Woohoo, some illegals pay social security and medicaid. My heroes!

Not!

If any fines and fees are to be paid by illegals and their crooked employers, they better line up to give that money directly to ME and other suckered tax-payers who have picked up the tab for the big business entities who benefit from illegal labor. We'll take yours too, since you have so much empathy for them. One thing is for sure, our damned pandering government doesn't deserve any of it!

Yea, so some lawbreakers also work hard, their sychophants love to remind us. Well, illegal lovers, do you intend to support low wages, sweat shops, poor hygiene, an overwhelmed health care environment, two tiered immigration and justice systems, illiteracy, and importing poverty, or is that simply another manifestation of the severe lack of thought you have put into the consequences of your bleeding hearts?

I say we do as Mexico does, shoot them at the border, jail them without rights, and legislate the best jobs and career advancement for citizens and legal residents only. If it's good enough for them, it's good enough for us

Thats such a crock Addie. Hurting our country..pfft...

Yeah, maybe because of cheap illegal labor, a contruction worker's wages are down by 2 bucks an hour. But alot of good that extra money will do when the costs of goods and services double or triple because of soaring demand due to unfilled positions traditionally filled by illegals.

I love the 'I don't want to pay fair mkt value cos I want to benefit off what is essentially slave labor' argument.

I think what would be fair is for the illegal immigrant to:

1. Pay all fees a lawful petitioner would be subject to.

2. Go through the same background and medical checks a lawful petitioner would be subject to.

3. Account for all earnings since entering the USA and pay all taxes and fines warranted.4. Failure of any of these criteria would result in immediate and permanent expulsion from the USA and any accumulated wealth would be subject to all lawful Statutes and US Codes, including but not limited to: Forfeiture, fines and/or imprisonment.

Yeah good luck with that

You think if that if the Gov't can make money off employers who hire Illegal Immigrants, they would fix the problem?

The Gov't won't do a thing to fix the problem. Republicans like cheap labor and Democrats like the votes.

How are Dems getting votes off illegals?

EVERYONE here is benefitting off the backs of illegals in the aspect of goods and services. Not just Repubs, either....
