I think this is common question, but I have not been able to find an answer.

My fiancee and I are working to get K1 visa. However, we would like to get married. If we get married, would we have to start the visa application process over again?

Thanks!!

Absolutely yes, you would have to start over. However, it is common among the China K1 couples to have a wedding or engagement banquet after the visa is in hand. That's really only a party. As long as you don't go to the marriage office, register a marriage and get the little red book, you're still single.

K1 visas require the marriage be in the US.

The US Consulate China has this in their FAQ page.

We decided to get married before my K-1 petition could be processed. What should I do?

If you get married, your K-1 petition will no longer be valid. Your spouse will need to file a different petition, Form I-130, with the CIS.
