it's now been a week since we got all of our stuff. the hubby has been putting stuff away while I've been at school. so the house is now just in disarray rather than shambles. Anyway, we rented a uhaul in Calgary the 10th and 11th-$140. The 11th we drove down to the ABF terminal, it was a little difficult to find the office-there's only a tiny hand written sign on one of the doors.

Anyway, it took us about 2.5 hours to pack the cube. All of my experience packing my whole life into an Accord came in handy, the cube isn't that big but it's bigger than my little car. We just used regular ropes to tie the boxes etc. in about halfway through packing and again when everything was in. We packed as tight as we could and nothing major was broken, but I think the next time that we move I'll probably put in one or 2 more tie offs. We brought all of our electronics, computers, and china in the car with us rather than in the cube. We put the shipment in my name as a returning citizen, rather than the hubby's name so we wouldn't have to worry about getting ABF a copy of his activated visa. They had said that our stuff would get to Albuquerque the 19th, but it actually got there the 16th. We were still worn out from the packing and driving so didn't actually unload the cube till the 20th. ABF didn't charge us any extra for storing the cube those 4 days. The Albuquerque ABF terminal is a 24 hour terminal, which could be handy. it was another $50 for the uhaul here and the ABF shipment was $865.

I was really happy with the whole process-or as happy as I could be considering all the personal manual labor. Until we get at a point in our lives where we hire professional movers, we plan on using ABF. They took care of the custom issues and everyone who we talked to from ABF was really nice and seemed to know what they were doing. We recommend them with no reservations

10/4/05 fly back to US to "finish up Master's" lose mind and switch to PhD

Damn it back to the US process

3/something/2005 finally get NOA2, no idea why it took so long

4/15/07 get case approval from NVC

8/9/07 Montreal here we come

10/14/07 hubby activated his visa

10/21/2008: Submitted I-865W in lieu of co-sponsor and medical info to NSC

11/14/2008: online case status not updated since filing of AOS in July 2008

01/20/2009: Received another RFE for Affadavit of Support Info

02/02/2009: Responded to RFE with brand new AOS based on 2008 tax return (if that doesn't shut them up, dunno what will)

02/19/2009: EAD card received in mail (no updates on Online Case Status ever made)

02/23/2009: AP received (again, no online updates)

02/26/2009: Received interview appointment letter for 4/6/09

04/06/2009: AOS approved for unconditional GC

04/21/2009: GC received

2007-04-16: I-485 and I-765 sent to Chicago (My AOS/EAD checklist)

2007-04-17: Received at Chicago

2007-04-23: NOA1 date (both)

2007-05-10: Biometrics appointment (both - Biometrics review)

2007-06-05: AOS interview letter date

2007-06-13: AOS interview letter received in mail

2007-07-03: EAD card production ordered

2007-07-07: EAD card received! (yay!)

2007-08-23: AOS interview (Documents / Interview review)

2007-08-23: Green card production ordered!!!

2007-08-24: Welcome notice mailed!

2007-08-27: Green card production ordered again... ?

2007-08-28: Welcome notice received!

2007-09-01: Green card received!

Done with USCIS until May 23, 2009!
