You early starters are so lucky, at least you started the process when it was still cheap and by God's special grace you all will soon be starting the next part of the process...... I still have a very long wait :( I do not know what to do to keep myself entertained. I have overbooked my weekends with activities from now till Dec. just so that I keep myself busy, but everything just makes me wish my oga was here

Hi Osakeme,

Hope all is well with you considering. I know what you mean about the waiting and keeping yourself occupied. I am teaching myself Yoruba with the aid of tapes and books that I purchased when I was in Nigeria. That helps me. As my Hakeem would say, "One day we all will look back at this time and laugh". I told him then I am ready to laugh myself silly. He is very optimistic and for that I am grateful. Good ole American Government.

"Happiness keeps you sweet, Trials keep you strong, Sorrows keep you human, Failures keeps you humble, Success keeps you glowing"

Hey everyone,

I have been too pre-occupied for my own good. I wanted to share something so sweet that my beloved did today.

Here it goes...... I got really bad news(work-related) :crying: on friday and ofcourse had to share it with him and I was very depressed and worried. My man reassured me with some serious bible verses ie. :innocent: Isaiah 55:8-9(ofcourse I read the whole chapter). Not only was he sleepless with me all weekend (L) , but he has been buying a huge amounts of credit to call me and keep my mind off the issue. Then today, he called and was playing a romantic Nigerian song that stated that he could not get me out of his mind. After all this I just needed to share that I LOVE THIS MAN. I miss him that I am almost tempted to move back(but sista got bills to pay)

PS.

For everyone that is getting news on their application/waiting- Congrats & good luck

For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. Romans 1vs20

That is wonderful news. Today, I had a nervous breakdown after expecting an approval. I called and spoke to this really rude lady who drove me crazy. I have to get my mind off this stuff before I go completely crazy.

what your hubby did was so cute and romantic. girl, I can imagine how much you miss him.

Hello,

I wanted to let you know the details of my husband's interview. His interview was on Oct. 31st and we were approved!

He is supposed to go and pick his visa up on Tuesday, Nov. 6th.

Although he got to the embassy very early like 6:30 he was like #10 in line. The guard told everyone to open their medical envelope so my husband did not pay him any attention because Komaross said do not open the envelope give it to the CO so when he got to the front of the line to turn his paperwork in the guard said that since he did not listen to him and open his envelope he would have to go to the end of the line so he went from #10 to like #70 he didn't get out of the embassy till 5:30p.m. and he was next to the last he said. So please do what the guards tell you.

Despite the long awful wait he said that the CO he had was very friendly and nice. He was a white american man. He said that he didn't ask for hardly anything at all he just wanted to talk about our relationship?

He really grilled him on that and paid attention to how he answered the questions and the things that he said and didn't really pay that much attention to all the evidence that I had so nicely put together and had spent $220.00 on 5 pounds of paper because I thought we had to have it. My husband said it depends on what CO you get he thinks they already have an idea if they want to approve you or not before you are interviewed ,I don't know that's just what my husband thinks.

The CO asked for a few pictures and emails and took our AOS and that was it. He asked about our relationship like why would a woman from Georgia come all the way to Nigeria to marry you? My husband told him how we met and fell in love he said the CO said he didn't want to know how we were in love he wanted to know what we had in common, what we saw in each other what we talked about on the phone.

My husband said it lasted all about 10 min. and he just told him everything he could and told him how I think he is funny how we are always joking with each other. The CO said so you are a funny man and he said my wife thinks so. LOL.....

So after that we were APPROVED!! and they told him to come back Tuesday and get his visa so I booked him a flight for Friday night Nov. the 9th for him to come to Atlanta and he would have a layover in Paris for 5 hours. Well don't make the same mistake that I did do not get a connecting flight through Europe from Nigeria come to find out after I bought the ticket that now my husband needs a transit visa just to be in Paris for the layover. That is so stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So he has to apply for a transit visa with the airline and it takes 72 hours to get back. So I don't know how everything will go if he gets his visa Tuesday and can turn in his passport and transit visa application on Tuesday he will get it back on Friday morning and he can still leave on his flight on Friday night if not I will have to change the ticket and spend more money for that plus the transit visa is $100.00. So please get a straight through flight to US from Nigeria don't do what I did I guess a lot of people may know this but I didn't or my husband and have never heard of it.

I am thankful that the hardest part of our journey is over with but I am still worried that everything will pan out as we planned things are not so simple in Nigeria so I am praying that all goes well since I am running out of money.

But overall I am really excited that my husband will be home soon and am happy to share my experience with you as you share your experiences!!

onsulate Review: Nigeria

Review Topic: K1 Visa

Event Description

Review Date : August 13, 2007

Embassy Review : His interview was at 7am, we arrived a little late at 7:45am. The bad part was that he was the last person interviewed that day, so, his interview did not begin until after 5pm. Yes we were there for over 9 hours. His interview began with the regular questions: how did you meet?, where does she work? what does she do for a living?, how many times has she been to Nigera? and what they focused on more was when was the last time she was here? Well, when she got to that part she totally focused on the fact that zi came to Nigeria for the interview. I had given him my passport to show my entry stamp. The interviewer was quit empressed that I was there. For evidence we had 2 photo albums aobut 300 pics plus 200 loose pictures from our last visit that would not fit into the albums. Well, the albums were small but would not fit through the slot in the window. He showed the interviewer the loose pictures, she began walking around showing our pictures to other employees in the embassy. After they had went through all the pictures she made positive comments and told my fiance that he was approved, and she jokingly said "welcome to the United States, and that he should come back in three days to pick up his visa. He arrived to the embassy at the assigned time and his visa was ready, he was out of the embassy in 10 minutes.

There was another K1 filer interview at the embassy, he had arrived at 7am, so, his interview was right before my fiance. He was also approved and told to come back in three days. When my fiance went to pick up his visa, he ran into the other guy. The guy had also been approved, but, when he arrived to pick up his visa they told him it was not ready, and that he should come back in another 3 days.

Overallour experience with the interview process was ok but, our outcome was great. the only complaint we had was the time it took before he was intervied almost 9 hours.

Okay Everyone, Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the well wishes. Here is what my SO said happened: He received IV19. He said that they called everyone's number besides his, numbers higher and lower, people that were in line after him. He said that he had sat so long that he was wondering what was going on. Finally, his number was called and he went to window #13. He said that it was a white man. They had already taken the required documents. He sat down and pulled the binder out of his bag. The man said what are you doing. He told him taking out the binder with documents. He said I didn't ask for that. Then, he asked him what was in the binder. My SO told him all the doc.'s that talked about our relationship and gave him examples. The man asked him who put the binder together. SO said my fiance.

CO said tell me about your fiance. My SO started talking and talking and talking laughing.gif (my baby is very eloquent) until the CO had to interrupt him. He then asked my SO what does she do for a living. My SO started talking and talking and talking laughing.gif explaining every detail of my job. He said that the CO did get him when he explained that I also run an after school program. My SO didn't understand exactly what I do there, but the CO explained it to him but he wasn't upset at all with my SO.

He asked him how we communicate, SO told him. CO asked him when I visited what did we do, SO kept talking and talking laughing.gif. The CO said do you have pics, SO showed him and explained I think he said 3 or 4 of the pics. He said the CO asked him about his own family and our religious beliefs. He said the CO went to the computer did some stuff, went and got some papers. He said when he saw the CO get the yellow paper he knew he was approved! CO came back and said welcome to America! Come back on Aug. 6 @ 2 p.m. to get your passport. SO said it took all of 10 minutes for the interview.

My SO said it was simple and easy! I know on this site they say just answer the questions and don't volunteer info., but I'm glad the CO asked open-ended questions because my SO was able to demonstrate that we really know and love each other. However, the SO may think twice about asking those type of questions because of all the talking my SO did laughing.gif, but there was no question this was a genuine relationship.

In my opinion, I think they already know if they are going to approve you or not before you get to the interview. The Co didn't ask for emails, phone records, or anything else except for 3 or 4 pics to prove we had met. I feel cheated laughing.gif. Here I prepared all these lovely documents and they did not get any attention wink.gif. Here are the list of questions that we used to practice. I found them on someone else's thread. I found them to be more in-depth than some of the other ones I've seen: www.fiddlers.us/questions/

Advice: If your SO can access, the internet have them start reviewing this site. My fiance is as addicted to this site as I am and it helped him to become comfortable with the process and how the CO's can behave. Thanks to all who have helped me and others by sharing their stories. Now, let's hope the visa actually arrives on time!
