My wife and I just received the officially translated (into english) our Marriage Certificate and her Colombian birth certificate. The Marriage Certificate has zero mistakes. Her birth certificate has several mispellings including her last name!!! Spelled Gonzales wih an "s" instead of a "z". Her Mother's first name is wrong, as well as my first name "Anthons" instead of Anthony.

Does anyone feel these are mistakes that will cause these docs to be returned and not approved????

Thanks for you input.

Wow, Those are pretty egregious and careless mistakes! Did the same person translate both documents? If you have time, I would go back to the translater and have them produce a second translation that is correct...Those examples are not examples of "subjective" choices of vocabulary translations, they are flat out (and sloppy, I would add) mistakes. The person should redo it with appologees..

Hello,

In my opinion you did not need to get either "officially" translated into English. I did it myself...but, I am reasonably competent in Spanish. You should not have any problems with "small errors" with name spelling...that is just a tiny error. Something like a "wrong" date of birth or marriage....maybe. Read the guides and follow the directions explicitly. Also, be aware that the Embassy in Colombia does NOT require translations...they speak BOTH English and Spanish there.

IF you want something done right...do it yourself!!!!

Good luck on your VISA Journey,

Craig

Thanks for your opinions. We are getting them corrected.

Greetings:

All mistakes must be corrected prior to the interview or the consul Officer can deny and reschedule the appointment.

Why some people told you dont worry about them is not correct. my wife is an Attorney in Colombia and simple mistakes on paperwork

will most definately DELAY your visa.

Good Luck

Brian

It sucks, I had the same thing happen with my husband's birth certificate. Only one minor mispelling of the birth city. But still, we felt it could slow the process and so we got another translation from the goverment department and made sure that before we left it was ACCURATE.
