Hi!

I'm trying to fill out the DS-156 and I'm stuck on the question asking if you have ever been to the US. My fiance and I live fairly close to each other, so I've visited him about once a month for the past year and a half. I don't remember all the dates exactly anymore. How important is it to have every single one indicated? Anyone else have this problem?

Thanks!

Well with me living in Germany at the time I was not able to visit him as often.

I would write in the dates when you think you where there and how long you stayed (you could also add that you dont live far from him and cant remember the exact time you went there)

I think the most important thing for them is to see if you did not overstay at any point in time,I think that is the whole perpose of them asking that.

We contacted USCIS and asked them about this question because I, too, had made numerous visits to the US throughout my lifetime. They told us that this question was just seeking to determine if anyone had ever overstayed a visit and that specific dates were unimportant. As a result, I entered "Numerous visits but none lasting longer than 3 weeks." The visa was approved without an RFE.

I also put the same answer down. They asked about this during the interview, but my visa was approved.
