BLAINE — For 54 people from India and Pakistan, coming to the United States meant spending thousands of dollars and slipping into the country through a field in rural Whatcom County.

The men, women and young children paid $36,000 or more a head to a smuggling ring for forged passports and help sneaking into the United States.

Now, U.S. and Canadian authorities say they’ve broken up the international smuggling ring that brought them here. The arrests, announced by officials Wednesday, come after a series of recent incidents drawing attention to the problem of securing Whatcom County’s 88-mile border with Canada.

[...]

Using fake passports, smugglers brought their human cargo into Toronto, Canada, officials said. From there, smugglers took their customers to Vancouver, B.C., and later sneaked many into the United States through rural Whatcom County.

The illegal immigrants would stay at hotels in the Seattle area before catching flights to different cities across the country, Winchell said.

Officials said they weren’t planning to prosecute the individual immigrants smuggled into the country. It remains unclear whether they face deportation.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Looser, from the sounds of it. There's quite a bit of attention down south. Not so up north. At places you can stroll right in.

yeap..of course the ones coming from the north are all IT and engineers..
