thanks for being clear-headed about this and esp for sharing your RFE.

So I assume this means you won't be getting a cert for the country you lived in for 11 months?

Well, that's not really up to us since we're talking about one of four unusual countries.

FYI, Brunei, Costa Rica, Netherlands and Bermuda do not send out police certs to individuals applicants. Instead the US Emb/Consulate has to request it.

So it will be up to the person processing Packet 3 to then decide this. Of course we can point this out, to prod them to request this

(I have heard ab cases where the consular officer has asked someone for one of these certs at the interview, then at the same moment realizing that it was their own responsibility, not the applicant's, to get hold of one. D'oh! )

so either we wait and see OR we gently remind the consulate: "If you think I need to show a Dutch police cert due to my 11 months there, please remember that YOU have to request one since I cannot".

Nightmare would be showing to the interview and then getting delayed for that one reason, waiting for the police certificate.

Ah ok, makes sense. Well I sure would send a cheeful email reminder and have that reply on hand, it would be truly annoying to be waiting for the visa based on something they should be doing.

I wish you luck with it !
