got my dress at this small store for a decent price. It was a beautiful gown and everything I was looking for. So I got it. But you know they add the veil when you put that dress on and it all comes together.

So once at the cash register, my soon to be mother in law, is signing the receipt as she is the one paying for it (much appreciation) they ask us if we want to get the veil. So we say yes.

The veil: $250.00

250.00 for a veil?? I could have bought some sheer curtains and cut em up myself.

I mean the veil was kind of long and pretty, and matched the ivory dress perfectly, but still. It seems to be a ridiculous price to me. But then again it's my first time getting married so I wouldn't know the prices.

Tulle has always been very expensive (even when I used to tag along with Mom to the fabric store I used to be amazed at how disproportionally expensive it was) and I imagine that working with it must be pretty difficult.

Ok I understand the quality is probably not the same...

But, I got a veil for 12$ on ebay and was quite happy with ;) We didn't want to get fancy and all on the veil, but honestly, a woman showed me a 200$ veil in a store, and the one I got was close enough for me. Depends on your expectation! They have short ones like mine around 12-15$ and longer ones go up to 50$. I think the name of the ebaystore is Veilbylana

Here's a pic of me, and I got mine with little swarovski crystals on it to match my dress

veil.jpg

Edit: my dress was quite simple, and to me the veil made it look much better, rather have a simple veil than no veil at all :)

I think your veil is just lovely! It seems to me that the veil is to bridal wear as toner is to the printer.

I must say, 250.00 is quite high. I got mine for 75 dollars and that included them adding small gems on the veil. Perhaps you are in a bigger area then I am and when that happens, they jack the prices....

I'm sure it's lovely though.

Well when I returned I was checking out online stores. They were pretty cheap. I didn't even want to wear a veil at first because I wanted simple...but it did look really nice.

Maybe she just pulled the price out of her butt? I mean she just kind of wrote it down.

Bridal boutiques are very expensive, so I am not surprised by that price. I have seen veils for up to 600$....

Emancipation: I didn't want to get too much into the wedding thing at first, but since it was my first (and last, I'm sure) wedding, I wanted a little piece of that princess feeling  And my dresss was actually a prom dress in white, so ven if it looked quite like a wedding dress, the veil made it so much realistic :)

:) Memphys Your veil was very pretty.. It is different the 2nd time round I think.. there was so much I didn't feel the need to do again, but it is true, sometimes you need a little something something or a little bling bling to finish the look for sure!!
