My fiance and I applied for a K1 because based on the information we were given at the time and information on various forums we were under the impression that it was MUCH quicker to do a Fiance Visa instead of getting married. We sacrificed and waiting because of course what's most important to us is that we are together as soon as possible.

We have been on the waiting list now since May 2006 and it is now October 2007 and we are still on that LLLLLOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGG waiting list. We now feel that perhaps if we had gotten married we probably would have been together by now. Also, we are now wondering if it is harder to get an approval for a K1 than for a K3.

At the same time we sacrificed not getting married and basically put our lives on hold for this process and are now afraid to make any changes in our lives for fear of prolonging or jeopardizing our case.

We are wondering if we shoulg get married now and if we do how this will affect our K1.

Any information you can share with me will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

If you get married you will have to start all over with a K3 or CR-1.

I don't understand why it's taking you so LONG to get the K1. Something ain't right!

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

5 more months!!!! I was hoping more like January or February....yes, I am on 17 months and they say that they usually call you at about 18 to 20 months. I guess we're nearing the end and we are getting more and more anxious and second guessing whether we made the right decision on going the fiance vs the marriage. I hear that they usually give you a hard way to go if you're not married but you're right we are all on the same waiting list and I need to stay put at this point.

That's what I'm worried about but I called that 800 number and they said all my paperwork looks good and that I should call them again sometime in November to see where I stand. He said that my case should be called sometime between November and February....I know for sure it's not November or December because those lists are already out and I'm not on it...I pray that it will be in January and that nothing goes wrong :-)

What number are you on the list? because like that you could calculate when you will get the appt, also have all your paper work ready.

As of the 9/30/07 list I'm in the 6,000 but I imagine that number will be lowered when the October 30, 2007 list comes out. You figure at 1,200 cases per month perhaps I'll be at four thousand and change???

When I called that Visa line that they charge you $8 bucks for they informed me that I will be called sometime in January or February.....we'll see. Time is flying and it is right around the corner. At this time, I'm just organizing my paperwork making sure I have everything and more of what they will and may ask for :-)

Okay...my position number is now in the early 4,000...I've seen people get called for a December appointment and their number is in the 12,000s I'm just not sure in what order they are calling people anymore.
