Hi all!

I was just wondering...have been doing a lot of reading lately on lifting of conditions as we are in that 90-day timeframe now...Craig got his perm. resident status on January 5, 2005. What I am wondering is.... I know it is important to file within the 90 days, but how late can we push it? I mean, I'm not going to wait til a week or two before January 5, but would a month or so before be ok? or is that too late?

The only reason I ask this is, as ever, MONEY! We can borrow it if we need to, but we just don't ever seem to have the extra laying around!

Thanks! :) Michelle

Don't wait too long, the USCIS needs time to process the appl and send the extension letter.

Hi Michelle, good to see you again, hope everything is good with you both...

Ok the only problem with filing close to the expiry date of Craigs Greencard is that he will most likely not get the extension letter before his card expires... now the only problems I can see in that is if he were to need the extension letter for work or foreign travel.. otherwise you should have no issues...

Nice to see you back on the board!

Looking at the timelines, it seems that it is taking about a month to get the NOA1 and get your check cashed, so you should probably apply 6 weeks before expiration if you need to have the 1 yr extension in your hand for employment purposes. Just my opinion!

Hope all is well with you two.

We submitted about 21 days before deadline (can see nowhere where technically you can't leave it till day 90) this caused us no problems at all. BUT there is that period where you are in a kinda limbo done the legal requirement but out of status according to the paperwork in your hand. I can vouch for the fact that it does make you kinda nervous and was convinced it would be the time I actually needed the card but it wasn't the case. As for my work even though it was recorded when I started when my greencard expired to this day I have never been asked to verify that it was ever extended.

good luck with your foray back into the depths of USCIS it's no more fun the second time around lol

Hi Michelle, long time no see! Glad you are back if only for a moment!

Agree with everything everyone else has said. Don't wait too long if Craig needs the NOA1 to travel or for work, etc. Derek and I are sorta in the same boat though less for financial reasons and more because I just can't seem to get my a$$ in gear. But hopefully it will all be pulled together and out next week which will give USCIS a little less than 2 months to get the NOA1 out. Derek wants to go home to Canada for the holidays and his driver's license renewal is also dependant on the NOA1, so I know I can't procrastinate too long!

Wow.....we havent been on here in ages it seems!!

I remember you two filing about the same time as Neil & I did......so I figured you two would be on here asking questions or posting about removing conditions, etc.

I wouldnt suggest waiting too long before filing to have the conditions lifted.....in fact.....on this web site on the processing times.........Nebraska Service Center is processing Jan 2007 petitions..... :o:huh: That means they are running approximately 10 months behind on the I-751 if I read it correctly.

Think of it this way......if you have to borrow money to do the petition......you'll probably have the loan paid off before you get your paperwork even looked at.......LOL.......

We sent off all of our stuff today........October 31st...... :luv: so looks like it will be awhile before we hear anything or before they get to our paperwork.....sighs........ahhhhh to be caught up in the system yet again.......:P

How are you two doing anyway........its been probably over a year since we last spoke......I think Craig was having some problems adjusting to America....hows it going now?? Just curious.

Take care

First of all...didn't he get his green card January of 2006? Cuz if it was 2005, you are really late....

Anyway, filing at NSC is still a f*ckup. BUT NSC has started transferring cases to CSC so they are getting quick approvals. The time probably won't be as long as those of us who filed before cases started getting transferred.

I'd seriously try to file as soon the 90 day window opens though, because you never know what's going to happen, an RFE to deal with, CSC coming to a halt, etc and you just want to get this over with.
