I had the same question, as Ryan and I are hoping to go back to the UK in September (my first trip home in nearly two years!!), so I called BA and asked about the name on the passport and ticket thing...and was told that I should book my ticket in my maiden name as shown on my passport, then carry a copy of my marriage certificate to show the link between the passport and greencard for coming back to the US.

However, just to throw a spanner in the works - I was hoping to go to London or Liverpool, or wherever you go these days, queue up for goodness knows how many hours and get a brand new passport on the spot (I think they still do this), but then that would mean that the names would then be different again...I was really hoping to change my name on my passport whilst I was at home... :(

I don't suppose hypenating together both my names on the ticket would work?

I guess another option is to get this trip over and done with, then risk being passport-less and letting the british embassy do my passport here in the US...I believe that it can be sent to LA and they will issue a new passport. Its valid until 2009, I just wanted to update it with my new name!

Just for your info. You can renew your passport, or make changes to it (name) by filing at the Washington DC British Embassy. It takes about a week. I sent mine, when I married, and they got it back in 5 days! My daughter sent hers recently and it was back in 7 days. I don't see what all the fuss is about, if you can get your UK passport changed this quickly, then why don't you? You aren't planning on going back to the UK until September, right? I'd get your application in to the British Embassy in Washington DC and your passport will be back with you months before you even need it. Saves any confusion and the need to take loads of paperwork with you.

Our journey started in 2001 and it's still not over. It's been a rollercoaster ride all the way! Let me off - I wanna be sick!

Wow, thanks for all the info, so I guess all was ok.

And as for my situation the reason that I asked this is because it will take about 3 months for her to send all her docs back to Moldova though her embassy here in the US to get the name changed.

So I think we will book the Tickets in her Married name.

Bring our certified marriage cert (certified by both the State and Federal Gov)

Her 2 year green card.

Her credit card.

I think this will do it.

Thanks for all your help , this is a great board.

Hi,

I am about to travel to my home town for 5 weeks (out of the country), but I have a small problem.

My green card and my passport has a little mistake on my name, and I booked my trip on the name

of myb green card. Will there be any problem during my travel out of the country.

Please reply

Thank you
