Name change close to interview

Hello,

My thai wife was scheduled for her CR-1 interview at the US embassy on November 9th. When she went to order her Thai Police Certificate they told her that since her name hadnt been changed to mrs. farang that she couldnt order this.

She has traveled home and changed her name. I emailed the embassy to let them know that we might not be ready by the 9th, since she has to get a new passport before she can even order her police clearance. What documents or forms do i need to file with the Embassy in regards to her name change? Can it all be submitted on the day of the interview, or do i need to go in there first? In their email reply they said, "you can drop off any other documents any business monday afternoon" and "just let us know when you are ready for your interview"??

I'll try one more time .....if one changes there surname in the middle of the CR-1 visa process what needs to be done?
