Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Arrested BoSox Revelers To Face Judge

Police Say Close To 40 Jailed

POSTED: 1:49 am EDT October 29, 2007

BOSTON -- Dozens of rowdy Red Sox revelers will face a judge in court Monday after police made multiple arrests following the unrest that followed the Sox World Series win early Monday.

Crowds erupted in neighborhoods around Boston after the Red Sox beat the Colorado Rockies in Denver. Boston police reported 22 arrests related to the Sox celebrations and Massachusetts State Police reported 15 arrests.

Police in riot gear worked to clear large crowds gathered around Fenway Park after nearby bars emptied out. Fans were ecstatic that the Sox had won their second series title in four years.

Officers had a block-wide area all around the ballpark cordoned off, so crowds congregated in Kenmore Square. Some rowdy fans overturned cars on Boylston Street and set a motorcycle on fire on upper Newbury Street. Police said 16 cars were vandalized on Newbury, most with broken windows and mirrors.

Thousands gathered, some of them celebrating and others throwing bottles at police, who didn't hesitate to handcuff rowdies who refused to follow orders. Police said 13 people were arrested after disobeying an order to disperse from Kenmore Square. Some pepper spray was used and officers had to try to prevent some fans from climbing light poles in order to dive into the crowds.

"The crowd went crazy. Beer was spilling everywhere. I was just covered," said one fan at the scene.

Boston Mayor Thomas Menino estimated that it cost the city between $500,000 and $600,000 for crowd control.

Not all the fans were out of control. Some quietly enjoyed the sweet victory.

"I think it's terrific because I wasn't around in '04, I was out of town. So now that I'm here, I get to experience it. It feels good. I'm not going to lie. It feels good," another fan said.

The Red Sox won the game 4-3, touching off celebrations in Boston and around New England. College campuses around the state dealt with overzealous celebrating. At the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, six students were arrested for disorderly conduct or failure to disperse after an estimated 1,500 students poured out of their dormitories. One person suffered injuries after diving into a crowd.

Boston police were on high alert because of past destruction following team victories, including the death of an Emerson College student when police tried to quell rioting in 2004 following the Sox ALCS win that year.

It's really sad that the Rockies didn't come close to winning the World Series but they've come farther than anyone expected. Being NL champions is more than enough.
