Things your husband/fiance does that drives you crazy.

Dear Amira,

Please look at your original post...You said your husband REPEATEDLY CALLS FOR YOU when your busy.

There is a difference between asking someone to bring you a glass of water when your free. To that of continually calling for you when you are obviously busy and for such a simple thing as a glass of water.

Please don't be offended, but it does portray a negative impression of your husband.

Wow. You are such a genious. I can't believe you are the only one that could figure a thread about things our husbands/fiances do that drive us crazy may be negative. Wow.

So what if he repeatedly calls for me? Do you actually think you can judge him or my marriage based on the one example I posted here? Maybe I should post the countless things he does for me daily? You seem to have alot of time on your hands. I am not offended in the least.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

Gosh my husband is perfect too, and so am I. So therefore I will not post what drives me crazy cuz you know we both are sooo perfect. That dang perfect pampered ME arab male :luv:

Never said any husband was perfect. Some husbands may not have any problem with this thread and see it as a lighthearted jab at their quirks. BUT many MENA men would be embarrassed. Let your husbands read this thread and come to their own conclusions. I wont be posting not because my husband is perfect, but because of respect.

My husband has read this thread. Great that your husband is perfect but mine has a sense of humor. He doesn't get offended by silly things like this. I am so glad that I don't have to walk on eggshells around him.

And on the flip side of this, many women are expected to accept and forgive their husbands regardless of what they do. In Jordan especially people make tons of excuses for men. When I was there, my cousin and her fiance broke off their engagment due to the fact that he was a complete bafoon. However everyone was defending his actions saying he did them out of love. Now he did some downright stupid shyt. Men are held up on a much higher pedestal overthere.

You didn't agree with me first of all. You were trying to school me on MENA culture because your husband is Iranian and because you lived in India. Well live where ever you want and marry whoever you want but I guarantee you I will still be the one teaching you about MENA culture. The mena culture you are describing is not as common as you think anymore. Also, if you had simply agreed that was lazy, I would be fine with that. However to say that he might not upholding his husbandly duties and is demanding. You are not qualified to say that.

By the way, since your husband is so perfect as you stated earlier I guess you really have no reason to be in this thread.

I am confuzzled about what stereotypes are acceptable because it seems to change by the hour.:wacko:

I have figured out one thing though "people make tons of excuses for men" here too. Thankfully we are have an expert to teach us about MENA culture. ;) BTW, how much time have you spent in the NA and countries other than Jordan?

Excuses for men? Hardly! If you think you scour the earth and find the perfect man with no quirks, please be my guest. Every man & woman has their own set of quirks, accepting them doesn't mean you are making excuses.

If you knew anything about ME culture you would know that it is pretty much the same in most ME countries. Growing up in an arab family, you don't even need to spend one day there to understand the culture.

Amira, my husband does that same ####### he calls me all the time and it will be for something silly. Does he wear the pants int he relationship? No. He isnt a coddled baby either. He does his share, I do mine. He cooks more dinners than I do and he changed more diapers with our first son than I did (jury is still out on the second one, but he does his share). We both work very hard and we each have our share of the workload at home. Its his QUIRK of sometimes calling, calling, calling for no good reason thats annoying but it doesnt say anything about the nature of our relationship.

Here is another thing that makes me nuts that I am wondering if you guys can relate to.... If my husband hasnt had time to watch israeli news on the internet (which he usually doesnt) than I become a news widow from 8-8:30 every night while he watches the news. Its SO annoying. I have worked it into our nightly routine and he gives our baby the nightime bottle while he is watching it etc but still i hate being a slave to the news every night for 30 mins. Do your SOs do this with the news in their country or even american news? I get all of my news through the internet whenever....

You are a slave to the news every night? I think it's interesting that you are complaining that your husband likes to watch the news for 30 minutes every night. Why is it annoying? I don't think 30 minutes is very long in the grand scheme of things and I also don't think that watching the news is a negative thing. But ok.

Not with the news but he does that when other programs are on. World series of poker for one, Wild 100 on Animal Planet, a few others. We hardly have anytime to watch the tube though. We have so many shows recorded on our DVR and have not even put a dent into watching them.

It's not so much about watching the news or the time it takes to do so. Its more because the world has to stand still while they are doing it. I can watch the news or any program for that matter and do multiple other things at the same time.

I know it sounds silly - but its like the world has to stop for the news. Nothing can interfere with the news watching. Also israeli satellite has all of these annoying commercials some of which play more than once during the 30 minutes and they are the same commericals every night. My oldest son sings the songs he has heard them so many times. I think it has to do with the intensity with which he watches it, how nothing can disturb it and how its every single night. And those damn commercials. Most women I know (in person) married to israelis have the same complaint.

Oh that's right. Saudi Arabia and Lebanon are like two peas in a pod, Israel is pretty much the same as Yemen, Morocco is basically the same as Iran, and the perspective of growing up in one Arab family in the United States gives one vast insight into more than a dozen countries. Makes perfect sense.

Mine is pretty adamant about watching the news every night. I dont mind it too much, but he believes EVERYTHING he sees on there. For instance he saw a bit about McDonalds awhile back where someone found a rat in their food (complete with big scary face). He is convinced that all McDonalds have rats and forbids me to ever eat there again, not even a teensy little milkshake.

Speaking of news. I was watching a program on LBC the other day and they asked her how often she watches the news. She said she had not seen the news in over 6 months. She says life is less depressing that way. Anyone else feel the same? I gotta see it daily.
