If you knew anything about ME culture you would know that it is pretty much the same in most ME countries. Growing up in an arab family, you don't even need to spend one day there to understand the culture.

Oh that's right. Saudi Arabia and Lebanon are like two peas in a pod, Israel is pretty much the same as Yemen, Morocco is basically the same as Iran, and the perspective of growing up in one Arab family in the United States gives one vast insight into more than a dozen countries. Makes perfect sense.

Dont mean to impose in this lovely thread but i have to comment on this....KSA and Lebanon are really NOTHING alike AT ALL. I lived in Lebanon for 16mths, its VERY open the people are VERY friendly and kind and helpful....and now ive been in KSA for almost 4mths and its soooooooooooo restricted, people are so closed minded, rude, aggressive...in my opinion as a 'dumb' american as well as my husband who is lebanese, there are very FEW things similar between these two countries. carry on.

Gosh my husband is perfect too, and so am I. So therefore I will not post what drives me crazy cuz you know we both are sooo perfect. That dang perfect pampered ME arab male :luv:

Never said any husband was perfect. Some husbands may not have any problem with this thread and see it as a lighthearted jab at their quirks. BUT many MENA men would be embarrassed. Let your husbands read this thread and come to their own conclusions. I wont be posting not because my husband is perfect, but because of respect.

My husband has read this thread. Great that your husband is perfect but mine has a sense of humor. He doesn't get offended by silly things like this. I am so glad that I don't have to walk on eggshells around him.

aaaand she never said her husband was perfect. nor does anything in her post remotely insinuate that she has to "walk on eggshells around him". not wanting to share husband quirks on visajourney doesn't equal a lack of a sense of humor. for someone who gets all indignant about her posts being misconstrued, it sure is ####### to turn this rubbish around on sophia.

Here is another thing that makes me nuts that I am wondering if you guys can relate to.... If my husband hasnt had time to watch israeli news on the internet (which he usually doesnt) than I become a news widow from 8-8:30 every night while he watches the news. Its SO annoying. I have worked it into our nightly routine and he gives our baby the nightime bottle while he is watching it etc but still i hate being a slave to the news every night for 30 mins. Do your SOs do this with the news in their country or even american news? I get all of my news through the internet whenever....

LOLOL...

My hubby is this way about the Nepali news, even on our honeymoon in Nagarkot he would go downstairs and watch Kantipur News at 8:00 in the hotel lounge.... I never minded that much because I am this way about the BBC World News - national news I get from the net but I have to watch BBCWN on our public TV station every night at 6 - it started during the public uprisings in Nepal last year in April(none of the other news programs were covering them in depth) and just became a regular habit. I like watching the Nepal news with him because I am trying to learn Nepali and am interested in the political situation... he's not a big TV watcher otherwise.

You are right, she didn't say he was perfect. Nutty said her husband was perfect and MMP agreed there implying she felt her husband fit under the same catagory. Regardless, I think it is pure ####### to assume that I am taking jabs at my husband or being disrespectfult to him.

Every couple has its own set of criteria of what they consider disprectful. Just because some of the girls here on VJ may be married to men that would be embarressed if she shared his quirks, doesnt mean I am being disrespectful to my husband for sharing his quirks.

I stand by my statement, the culture is very similar. I never said it was identical. If you would like to disagree that is fine.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

Speaking of news. I was watching a program on LBC the other day and they asked her how often she watches the news. She said she had not seen the news in over 6 months. She says life is less depressing that way. Anyone else feel the same? I gotta see it daily.

I browse the drudgereport daily but only for about two to three minutes. If there isn't a major crisis then I have no energy for it. I used to be a news junkie right after 9/11 but that ended in about a year's time or so.

I have to say our local news is pretty depressing. I dont watch it unless I think I might be on it. I prefer to sift through a newspaper or read on the net. OT is a good place for news, too

Ohhhh...where to start! We've been together now for 7 years and I've got quite a list!!!!

Hicham is a BIG germ-a-phobe, so he'll follow me around sometimes to make sure that I've washed my hands or something like that.

He also checks the oven to see that it's turned off before we leave the house EVEN IF WE HAVEN'T COOKED ANYTHING! And he does this at other people's houses that we go to visit. He doesn't say anything, but I watch him and I know that is what he's doing. A couple of times I just look at him and he says..."It's off." :)

Has he ever gone to see someone for ocd?

My thoughts exactly! :)

poor guy.. Im a bit of a germaphobe myself

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!
