I recently became a permanent resident on October 12,2007 without any interview. So i still have my I-94 stapled in my passport. But i received the physical green card already. I'm planning to go overseas next year, but this is really confused me. Should i return the i-94 to the airport officer, or i should take it off and keep as a record? and just show the officer my green card? do you guys think it would be a problem to enter by having a i-94 and green card together?

Btw, i called my attorney this morning, She said i don't need to return my I-94 since i have my physical green card already, and that i should just take it off but still keep it as a record.

Thanks in advance!

Normally if you'd had an interview, whoever interviewed you would have taken the I-94 away themselves, so you can go ahead and take yours out and keep it for your records.

Now that you are LPR, you have no need for the I-94 card, if you had an interview, the interviewing officer would have taken it and discarded it for you. You can safely remove it and keep it in your VisaJourney scrap book, or do anything you want with it.

LPRs are not required to fill one out, or carry one in their passport.

Wow, thank you for the fast replies!

I feel relived now since i do not need to return my I-94 form when i re-enter the US.

Also, my passport only has my first name and my middle name. But my GC has my first, middle, and last. Do i need to renew my passport (expires 2009) and have my name changed? or can i just leave it like that ? Because i got adopted by two U.S citizen, so after i got adopted, my last name on my passport changed to be my middle name now .

You can remove it.

When you do travel and return to the USA you are just like an american citizen and DO NOT have to fill out another I-94, the I-94 is for NON-Immigrants, you are no longer a NON-Immigrant, you are a US Resident like any other US Citizen.

You will need to use the name in passport when you book airline tickets, and you don't need to renew the passport until you have to, and at that time you can get name corrected.

oh ic.. thank you for the reply. Was your I-94 "expired" until the date you returned to visit ur family or not? My I-94 expired on February, 2005. But I got my Green card October 2007. Do u think it matter?
Makes no difference, ALL K-1 visa holders have an expired I-94 card, it takes much longer than the 90 days of the K-1 I-94 to get Green-Card.

I'm confused now, I came here as a tourist visa (B2), and I only got 6 months to stay.. until February 2005 (forgot the date). So does this mean I'm overstayed? Eventhough i already got my Green card on October 2007. What happened if the airport officer collect my I-94 and it's already expired? Can I just show him my Green card? :help:
