Name in marriage certificate different in name in passport

Hi,

I need help. The name I am using in my passport is my married name (from my previous marriage). I entered on a K-1 visa and got married last Sat (Oct 20). I already got the certified copy of my marriage certificate yesterday, the name on the certificate was my Maiden name, meaning the name when I was still single. Since my name in the passport and name on marriage certificate doesn't match, will it affect my AOS application? I plan to submit all paperworks for AOS sometime next week and I need advice on how to go about this.

Please help.

Dec. 18, 2007 AOS transferred to CSC

Dec. 28, 2007 Biometrics appointment (done)

Feb. 8, 2008 AOS touched (K1 & K2)

Feb. 10, 2008 AOS touched (K-1 & K-2)

Feb. 18, 2008 AOS approved (K-1)

Feb. 28, 2008 Received GC in the mail

Removing conditions

Nov. 25, 2009 Mailed documents to Vermont

Nov. 27, 2009 ROC documents recieved in VSC

Dec. 24, 2009 Resend ROC documents

Dec 29, 2009 Receipt date in NOA1

Jan. 29, 2010 Biometrics appointment

March 26, 2010 Card production ordered

March 29 ,2010 Touched

March 30, 2010 touched (Notice re: approval mailed)

I had the same problem.... my marriage certificate lists my name at birth... my passport was in my married name from a previous marriage... I had no problem doing AOS and I got a new passport as soon as I could... Your birth certificate and divorce papers will link the names....

Good thing I am not the only one with this situation :-) How did you do to change your SSN and passport to your new married name, did you just present your marriage certificate?

Yes I just had to show my marriage certifice and I was able to change my name on everything...
