Can my child study in the Philippines?

I am a seaman from the Philippines. My family which includes my wife and son just had our medicals and interview in Manila. We're now awaiting for our immigrant visa ( F4 category) from the courier. Questions:

1. After I arrive in the USA, can I go back to my work as a seaman in Europe and Africa? Would it not affect my future application for PR?

2. Can my child who is in college continue his studies in the Philippines? How do we go about this and how will it affect his immigrant status?
