NVC and I-864 Form - Need your help here...

Hello All, can use some help/advice pertaining to my case:

I filed I-30, received approval (9/4/07). Then the DS3032 and $70 fee (AoS) was sent to NVC

The latest automated recording says that "the IV Fee Bill Letter has been generated and will be sent in the next few weeks" (yikes!).

Anyway, I also received an e-mail reply to an inquiry I made to NVC, and they say they have received the Affidavit of Support (AoS) fee, and that they are wating for me to send them the filled out I-864 AoS. They state that I need to send them this for my case to continue to move along and be processed. In the e-mail, they provide a link where I can download the I-864, (the link also has detailed instructions about filling out I-864 etc.)

My question is: Am I supposed to wait to receive a package from them (I-864 form etc), or can I download, fill out and send the I-864 (along with supporting evidence etc)?? What about the Barcode they talk about in instructions? Can I submit the I-864 without Barcode info?

Please help. Appreciate any advice you guys can provide.

BTW, what is meant by "Touch", when people say that in their timelines??

Thanks.

Go to forums look for National VISA Center. The link is Pinned for you to be able to do the JAMES shortcuts as they are called. You can send the I-864 that way with the bar code. However if you send the I-864 and not send the IV Fee Bill shortlythere after the generation they will send you and RFE for the IV Fee bill which is ok.

Touch is on the USCIS website when they go in and look at your case, you are pretty much passed this stage since your I-130 is already approved.

Good Luck

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

You can download and create your own I-864 packet and not need to wait for the packet to arrive. You can send it ahead of time.

So a person can generate his own Barcode? So when NVC receives document and scans it, your name (or your beneficiary/immigrant) will show up in their system, is that how it works??

Also. what is CR1/IR-1?? I see this mentioned a lot here on these forums, but don't know what that means??

Thanks a bunch!

Yes you can generate your own, I did it! I don't know if they scan it, but basically the barcode is simply for routing purposes maybe or receipt of documents. Not really sure what they do with it.

CR1- married for less than 2 years. Conditional status with 2 years greencard

IR1- Immediate Relative, married for over 2 years. 10-yr greencard
