It was because names were mentioned (i.e., considered a personal attack, violation of the TOS). That's my guess.

Yes, I stated that a member on the board that most people know to be an expletive expletive is actually an expletive. When the person being referenced posted in one of my threads I received a few PMs telling me to ignore said person, as they were an expletive.

A moderator decided it was best to remove the name and insult, as free speech only goes so far. When feelings get hurt, it's time to delete posts.

It's a privately owned board so "free speech" doesn't apply. :P

(sorry had to throw that in as I'm a mod on another board - not immigration related)

I quoted Brad's post to compliment his specific choice of expletives so my post was also deleted.

I suppose it probably is just as well to delete it rather than let an all out slagfest evolve out of it (sorry, Brad).

I spent a lot of time reading posts on the K1 board before putting our petition together and there are quite a few people who probably are trying to be helpful but get a little full of themselves. I've kind of learned to take their posts with a few grains of salt and just figure out for myself how much weight or credence to give them. Even expletives can give good advice when they take a break from the written equivalent of listening to the sound of their own voice, too.

And that may just be easy for me to say because the worst I was ever on the receiving end of was a few people criticizing the way I answered someone's post because, although they assured me THEY knew EXACTLY what I was saying, they thought it was POSSIBLE that someone MIGHT interpret it some other way.

Hee, I've had that happen to me too. Except that I got yelled at for using the phrase "in my opinion" which to them sounded too ambivalent and unsure.

Don't get me wrong, I think their hearts are in the right place. Just the delivery of it can be a little sharp sometimes. -_- But last thing we need is this thread to be locked... wouldn't that make it the 4th thread locked in the Canada forum?

As an aside, Bee finally finished Halo 3 last night. Ending credits were full of amazing. /geek

Bee - Devon PA, USA (he's the one who gave her the shiny ring)

Here we go again...

Removal of conditions @ VSC

9/4/2010 - sent!

9/14/2010 - NOA

Yes I understand the reason it was deleted and the private board deal. I've been in community development for 7 years on boards with 5 million (yes million) members. So I am not new to this sort of thing.

However at the core I think everyone is allowed their opinion.

Yes I've seen that, posts where people say you can't just say 'in your opinion' and the ones where they say 'so say it is just your opinion not fact' haha!

And yes, it would be the 4th thread locked!! The last one locked was my "has a thread ever been locked in the Canada forum before" thread :hehe:

You are allowed your opinion, just not allowed to type it if it violates the TOS (well actually you can type it, but it will be removed, naturally)! :innocent:

Not giving you a hard time LaL, everyone has their own rules and I have no problem with that.

PS Canada board rules.

The Canada board does rule! For the most part, there are no threads in here that make me want to scream in anger at someone! People in here are super friendly and full of good information. What I also find is that everyone here is willing to allow others their opinions even if they don't agree, instead of being rude and demeaning about it! YAY for the Canada board!
