MandE... i'll add my voice to the others who said. it's probably nothing.. and I think i would bring additional documentation from my Dr.. as well.. I think that's a good idea..

Is there anyway they could Re-do the x-ray (the US approved Dr. that is?) for your peace of mind?

I am not from C-a-n-a-d-a so don't get the humor but still recommend that a specialist be seen quickly. Lung problems truly isn't very funny to me

The humour comes from the fact that we have socialized health care ... you have to see your doctor who refers you to a specialist and then it takes a while to get an appointment ... so immediately isn't really immediate at all

I don't think X-rays regularly are good for your health; it's a low dose of radiation, but my GP was telling me that she had a patient doing it six times a year by going to clinic screenings.

rumor has it that if you take a healthy person and run a battery of tests, you'll always find at least three things 'wrong' with them that turn out to be just quirks of their anatomy.

Never were truer words said. Let's all pray that the dark spot on MandE's x-ray is just a dark spot and nothing more. Trailmix is right about cancellations. I had an appointment for the 15th of November, I called in to confirm it and they hadn't gotten around to tell me that the doctor was unavailable and I could be rebooked for the 5th. So you never know. Try phoning once in the morning and once in the afternoon, so the receptionist gets to know you and is more likely to think of you when a cancellation comes up.

When I met with my doctor yesterday, he told me to hang tight till Wednesday. If I don't have an appointment by then, I can call him, and he'll call the hospital on my behalf. I made sure to let him know that if I don't have a clean bill of health for my interview, I may not get a visa, which means no wedding. He's knows the kind of pressure I'm under haha.

my cat scan is Nov. 15th!!!! my interview is Nov. 9th and my cat scan is Nov. 15th!!

I told the nurse that was not an option, and to call me back with a sooner appointment.

There is no way i'm going to get my visa.

You would not be denied the visa. You would goto the interview as planned, and once ur medical is completed, and they are happy with the results, they would then issue the visa. Hopefully you can get in earlier!

I agree Flames, if everything else is in order, I don't expect they will deny me, but delay me till I get a clean bill of health. At this point though, that is enough to cause me to have an anxiety attack. I have given notice to my landlord, and we have a wedding planned for Dec. 22nd. Not getting my visa when expected will be a nightmare (queue dramatic soap opera music).

Now, while I fully expect them to delay me... what I don't understand is why.

If I don't have a communicable disease, couldn't I realistically get treated in the States (if I wanted to?).

Now, this is not meant to be a debate on Canadian vs US Healthcare, and how I am better off getting treated here for free (I already know that hehe), I am just questioning the motives of the consulate. Why do they care where I get treated? I could have a million things wrong with me that weren't captured by the 5 minute medical and they wouldn't even know about it.

Also, the panel physician wrote on my medical that it was "recommended" I do a follow up x-ray with my own doctor. He never said it was "required". Do you think this is helpful?

MandE, as for whether your visa will be delayed or not, what exactly is checked off on your medical?

Page 1 - Classification

If "no apparent defect, disease, or disability) is checked off, you're fine.

Class B Conditions

If nothing is checked off there, you're fine.

Chest x-ray and classification worksheet one

- 2. Chest x-ray findings

If "normal" findings is checked, you're fine.

If abnormal findings is checked BUT "can suggest active tb" or "can suggest inactive tb" is NOT checked, you're fine.

I don't think "other" being checked off under this category would make someone inadmissible (temporary or otherwise).

On the X-ray sheet, he did note that I had no signs of TB, active or non-active, but said "Other findings" and wrote the same thing as above.

Please remain calm. I know it's tough but try to relax. Depending on what the spot is, you may have to do nothing. The consulate generally allows treatment wherever (in the case of TB) as long as there is some record of treatment. You do not have to be treated in the US. If it is not a communicable disease then they won't give a damn or at least they shouldn't. It depends on what was written on the physical. Since there is no TB noted on it you should be homefree. Just take it one step at a time. First the interview and then the medical. I hope this order is reversed shortly but in the meantime try not to obsess.

What they are looking for is TB. A pulmonary nodule should not cause you not to get ur visa! But ones health is a bigger concern than a visa in the grand scheme of things! I don't know much about pulmonary nodules, but I'm sure there is a lot of info on the net! Just ensure the site is a respectable one!! Plus it could be nothing!! Best of luck

Flames9 is right about health being the most important thing. The two big problems under Class B are Hansen's disease (Leprosy) and TB. Sometimes a shadow is just a shadow and nothing more.

It's funny, I'm not as overly concerned with the "pulmonary nodule" being something serious. It could be anything. A scar, an infection, a benign tumor.

I guess I just hope to get my visa approved on Nov. 9th, and than if it turns out I need expensive treatment, I can stay in Canada for 6 more months, but knowing that my visa is in hand for me to pack up whenever I wish.

Anyways, I just called my doctor again, asking if my appointment has been updated. The nurse spoke to me like I was a little girl, and told me that my doctor was aware, and that he would be calling the cat scan place himself, and that I just needed to be patient. Patience is not my strong point.

I don't think I would be very patient under the circumstances. Sheesh!

The problem you would most likely encounter getting treatment in the US is that insurance companies refuse to cover "preexisting conditions". But you do have up to six months to make the move, and if necessary your wedding plans can be postponed without too much difficulty, no matter how badly that would suck.

And it may well be nothing serious!

I really hope you find out it is nothing to worry about, and I really hope you find that out soon so you don't need to worry anymore!
