Woman says image of Jesus appeared on her bathroom towel

(10/19/07 - KTRK/HOUSTON) - A Houston woman says the face of Jesus is a message sent straight from God and left on a bathroom towel. And she's not wasting anytime sharing her newfound discovery with others.

You may have heard of the shroud of Turin, purported to be the linen cloth in which Jesus was buried after he was crucified. It bears the image of a man's body, who many say is that of Jesus. There's a cloth in Houston that has no such historical significance, but relies on just as much faith. Lucille Lopez is a woman of faith.

She said, "This room has been where I come every morning, every evening."

In her prayer room she surrounds herself with crosses, angels, candles and saints -- gifts from friends and family. But her newest addition, she believes is a gift directly from God.

"I say it's a miracle, a big miracle," Lucille said. "He's showing that he sees us. That he's looking at us."

On a simple white towel she sees the face of Jesus.

She said, "He's telling us that he's crying. Maybe he's hurting or that he's crying the way he did before he left us."

She says she used the towel to clean an air conditioner.

"I guess it just got stained," she said.

Hmmmm.

I have popcorn ceiling in my house, I have seen so many things in that before, I could see Jesus in it if I wanted to. You know, you lay in bed looking at the ceiling and faces or things become part of the pattern of the popcorn ceiling. Know what I mean, or am I crazy?

I just get a little wary when I hear people say they see Jesus in things like cinnamon rolls, potato chips, etc. Since we don't know what he exactly looked like (well, he didn't have blue eyes or light hair!), how do they know it'd be Jesus anyway.
