i have 2 questions and maybe you guys can help clarify these issues for me:

1. why do we keep putting the date that is on the NOA1 in those lists that we do? it is pretty obvious that the date that is on the NOA is the date that the service center received it, and it's pretty much 1 or 2 days after the "received" date. To me it seems redundant, since USCIS HAS to put the receipt date as NOA1 date.

The reason I ask this is because all these people keep asking "how long until i receive my noa?". Nobody can know exactly WHEN they will receive their NOA1, because the NOA1 dates in the lists are pretty much the "uscis received date", even though we got the notices in the mail 1 month after that.

So how does it help statistics the fact that we all have our NOA1 date the same with the received by uscis date? How do new people know how long it takes to receive the first notice?

2. this is directed more to USCIS than to people on visajourney, but maybe someone here can clarify it, so: Shouldn't the date on the NOA1 be the date of our greencards expiring, if anything? If we send the papers 3 months before the expiring date, doesn't that mean that the "extension letter" is valid for only 9 months instead of 1 year, since they put the noa date the date they received the package, and we have 3 months left until the actual expiration date?

thanks for your replies :)
