Ron Paul Schools Dems; Stands Up Against Terror Hysteria

Behind the Ron Paul sensation is a desperate desire for someone, anyone, to stand up and call "bullshit" on the "War on Terror" and all that it has entailed, from illegal surveillance of citizens and nightmarish foreign adventures to an executive branch mad with power and drunk on its sense of entitlement.

Last week Paul, whose opposition to much of the 20th century makes him terrible on just about every issue which touches the political economy and whose Birchian isolationism leads him to embrace conspiracy theories about shady cabals of globalists undermining American sovereignty and sapping our precious bodily fluids (not to mention his little white supremacy problem), simply schooled Democrats on how to roll back the disasters of the Bush era introducing the "American Freedom Agenda Act of 2007."

Some highlights of the act:

(a) Findings- Congress makes the following findings:

(1) Unchecked power by any branch leads to oppressive transgressions on individual freedoms and ill-considered government policies.

(2) The Founding Fathers enshrined checks and balances in the Constitution to protect against government abuses to derail ill-conceived domestic or foreign endeavors.

(3) Checks and balances make the Nation safer by preventing abuses that would be exploited by Al Qaeda to boost terrorist recruitment, would deter foreign governments from cooperating in defeating international terrorism, and would make the American people reluctant to support aggressive counter-terrorism measures.

(4) Checks and balances have withered since 9/11 and an alarming concentration of power has been accumulated in the presidency based on hyper-inflated fears of international terrorism and a desire permanently to alter the equilibrium of power between the three branches of government.

(5) The unprecedented constitutional powers claimed by the President since 9/11 subtracted national security and have been asserted for non-national security purposes.

(6) Experience demonstrates that global terrorism can be thwarted, deterred, and punished through muscular application of law enforcement measures and prosecutions in Federal civilian courts in lieu of military commissions or military law.

It would be wonderful if a politician such as Ron Paul would be elected to the Presidency. He is one of several that would get my vote in the ballot box if he were a candidate. All the frontrunners at this point SUCK so far.

Frontrunner = $$$$$$$$

Yep. Prime example would be how almost any conservative republican would consider Mike Huckabee the perfect example of social conservative thought. So if that is the case, why isn't he anywhere close to being the Republican party's front-runner?

Until the $$$ cease to be the #1 criteria to being a frontrunner we can't have a real democracy. We can only vote for the candidates they want us to have. I see it in the televised debates where certain candidates get more questions than the others.

America is much better off than many other countries, but there is a lot of room for real reform.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I'm definitely voting for Ron Paul. He's the only yahoo out of all the ones running that thinks I'm grown up enough to run my own affairs without them meddling

Actually, if you look at the financial status of his campaign, Ron Paul comes in at number 3. Read or watch about it here

However, unlike the other candidates, Ron Paul does not receive contributions from big business (ie, Hillary), nor does he donate to his own campaign (Romney). He relies on donations from individuals. So if you'd rather see him win, please make a contribution. Any amount can make a BIG difference. I've donated $900 so far :)

And I can also add that

Ron Paul makes a lot of sense but he comes across as crazy.

what is crazy is that we have been bullied and lied to for so long. Ron Paul is the only candidate looking to the problems plaguing this country. Guiliani would seek to increase presidential powers and get us further entrenched in foreign wars, and any democrat would seek to gorge our already bloated federal government with more social programs. Furthermore, Clinton and Obama aren't even talking about getting us out of Iraq.

Have you met him? I have and he comes across as being very sincere and high energy...I know I wouldn't have the energy to do all that he's been doing!

Ron Paul has been the front-runner for my vote for months. I love his ideals about smaller federal government, immigration reform, and bettering our own country before we interfere with others. A funny thing he said the other day, he wants to open up currency to silver and gold and anything else anybody would want to trade so that the federal gov't doesn't have total control of the country's currency. That made me giggle :) I love the passion and conviction this man has when he speaks, and he really cares about this country, not the money.
