Ok, I'm getting a little nervous.... Seems some have had extraordinary waits for the GC after filing their AOS because of getting stuck on FBI namechecks? Is this pretty much the same as AR/AP at the visa interview stage? I know some people spent a long period on that for name checks before ever getting their visas (my husband was on it for one month). I'm wondering now if it's possible to have to go through that twice... if he's already been on AR/AP at the embassy then is it possible for him to go through it again here?

Also, we haven't had an interview. Our case was sent to CSC directly and they've sent us an RFE (I think that's what it's called - asking for more info) twice and we've responded twice. The latest message online is that they've received the info we sent them this last time and they will continue processing his case. How would we know if we're on that FBI name checks? Would they send us an email/letter telling us this?

ETA: maybe I should change my screen name to Paranoid!

If you are pending at CSC you will not receive any notices indicating you are stuck in FBI namecheck. You would have to contact them or make an infopass appt to get updates on your case. There also is no (that anyone has been able to tell) correlation between AR at the consulate level and FBI namechecks at this stage.

Yes, it is possible to go through it twice though. We are, if you hadn't already deducted such from my siggy, but others who have had lengthy AR's have gone through AOS as a breeze. One important item to note - everyone goes through this check.

Another way to find out if you are stuck in the name check is to request assistance from your elected officials. They will make an 'official' inquiry and send you an explanation on what your status is.
