I think Gill idea of doing a maternity tour is a good one, at the old hospital they had cable in the labor and delivery rooms, might as well push in style and comfort. lol Kings County is like brand new, I think a tour is in the planning

I did the tour thing. Cable in the delivery room...I had everything you could image. They even gave me a massage. The hospital provided a DOULA for me (I laughed, my mom laughed, my sis laughed)...that poor lady didn't understand a word we was saying. She kept asking if we were Dominican and if that was some form of Spanish. I was in labour for 29 1/2 hours...ALL BACK LABOUR...not sure about pushing in style and comfort, but I told the doctor to give me the DAMN scapal, because I'm doing this C-Section myself. Wouldn't mind doing that again. I loved the suprise that came after all that pain. After losing a set of triplets and a singleton, I would have stayed in labour for hours, just to see what God has blessed me with.

Question - I'm allergic to the epidural...my last experience was BAD. Does anyone know of any other kinds of pain medication that is used to labor?

Well, they gave me STADOL that's before all hell broke lose with my SON. I was HIGH as a KITE and all I wanted to do was have SEX...can you imagine the amount of PAIN I was in and all I was thinking about was SEX. At that point, when the drug kicked in all the MEN that came in the room looked fine to me. Even my CROSS-EYED doctor. I'm a mess.

I don't know what the hell is in it, but i was talking in slow motion (or so it seems)...it took all my pain away. My epidural was hard, because I had severe back labour. My son was face down but facing the wrong direct and I could feel him going down, but he was being pulled back up. My imbical cord was wraped around his neck once and around his shoulder twice. The hospital thought I was going to sue them, because THEY almost lost my son. I kept telling them how I was feeling and they would not listen. It was not until my mom, 5 aunts and my sister (all nurses) started acting bad. From a family of rebels, but we live good. I told the nurse from my labor pains started getting out of hand that something was very wrong. The worse part is and the reason I ended up in shock, I was receive no medication from the epidural my LINE WAS BLOCKED or twisted and that FRIGGER of a anethelogist never checked it when they called her. She lied and said she flushed my line and she did not.

It was rough for me, but I'll do it all over again. Even if I had to go through the same experience. I have to post a picture of my baby...

**********THURSDAY CHUCKLE**********

Good Mawning Carib Fam,

I hope everyone had a good night!!

Too all my expectant or soon to be expectant Mama's out there...please make sure you are taking a multi-vitamin containing Folic Acid!!! I was watching the 'Today' show and a new study came out that all women of child-bearing age who are or looking to become pregnant should be taking Folic Acid daily. It cuts the chances of birth defects in HALF!!!

OK, just spreading the word...on to the chuckle!

Have a good day Fam!!!

Bless,

Gill

Jamaican Government Workers

These two Jamaican government workers were working along the roadside.

One man would dig a hole two or three feet deep and then move on. The other man came along behind him and filled in the hole. While one was digging a new hole, the other was 25 feet behind filling in the hole. The men worked right past the guy with the soft drink and went on down the road. "I can't stand this," said the man tossing the can into a trash container and heading down the road toward the men.

A befuddled onlooker went to men and said: "Hold it, hold it. "Can you tell me what's going on here with all this digging and refilling?"

"Well, we work for the government and we're just dong our job," one of the men said.

"But one of you is digging a hole and the other fills it up. You're not accomplishing anything. Aren't you wasting the taxpayers' money?"

"You don't understand, mister," one of the men said, leaning on his shovel and wiping his brow. "Normally there's three of us: me, Elmer and Leroy. I dig the hole, Elmer sticks in the tree and Leroy, here, puts the dirt back. Now just because Elmer's sick, that don't mean that Leroy and me can't work."

There are some pain meds they can drip in through the IV. I'm just not sure what they are called.

I had epidurals. Wouldn't want to contemplate labor without them.

the first labor was so bad. I had to get the epidural twice, but then the doctor, gave me the right amount of bendryl via an IV

the second labor - I had the button, but every time i pressed it was torture. they wouldn't give me more bendryl. I had her at 2pm and at 8pm I was still itching. I should have asked for more bendryl. the nurse looked at me and said oh u really are allergic. No I've just been itching for the last six hours for no reason.

Gill

Gill,

Mi jealous. I wish I had it that easy. Afterwards I just wanted to go home. I can't stand being in a hospital. All I can think of is the amount of germs all over the place. I was there a total of 9 days and I had to share a room for 2 days. l that did not last long, because my roommate was so DAMN nasty I had to use the bathroom down the hall. Keep in mind I had a C-SECTION, but she had blood all over the bathroom. On the seat, in the stall I told them (HELL NO) ya'll got to move me somewhere else or give me my own room. They gave me my own room. That woman was so FRIGGIN nasty. I didn't even want my son in there. Thank God I was near the window. All of my nurses were JAMAICAN except for the ones in the beginning part of labour. They took excellent care of me. I use to work with them a few years back at another hospital and they remembered me. So, I got HOOKED up big time. Plus they were cooking and bringing me food. I just loved them. People could not figure out if my son was black, indian or hispanic. and when we would go out, people thought I was the BABY SITTER...aint that some 'ish.

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.
