Toya: Remember I was on the beach with Tradee, and we were walking on the beach while you and Tran were...um…otherwise preoccupied. Well, Tradee was intrigued by the show you two were putting on, and I strayed away from him. No. I didn’t. I couldn’t pull him away. Will you listen? Do you remember the driver from last night? Fitz? Well, yeah I noticed him further down the beach practicing yoga moves. I decided to say hello and watch him exercise.

Mya: Okay. Tradee was watching us? You let him get his rocks off to me and Tran? Damn. Okay. I’m listening. Yeah…yeah…so?

Toya: Damn Mya! I’m trying to get there if you would just listen for a minute. Well, Fitz and I decided to come back here so I could shower, then we went for breakfast and took a tour. We went to the most amazing place with a full view of Ocho Rios and even Cuba. We had a picnic, and I took loads of pictures. We really enjoyed ourselves, and we connected on so many different levels. Well, guess what? I’m getting married! I want you to stand in as my maid of honor.

Mya: What? Married! To whom? I know that fool Ian did not just show up here!

Toya: No, Ian is not here. I told you that I was breaking things off with him. Fitz and I are getting married. We are in love! He is the most amazing man that I have ever met.

Mya: What? Bullsh**! You cannot be serious Toya. Have you lost your damn mind? I mean sex the man, but don’t get all caught up and sh**! Haven’t you heard that what happens in Jamaica stays in Jamaica? I bet he is looking for a free ride and a greencard to America! Love? Love! You wouldn’t know love from a hole in your head! Toya: I am serious, more serious than I have ever been. No, I haven’t lost my mind. How could you say that? He is not trying to come to America. As a matter of fact, he asked me to move here with him and his son. I think I would know when I was in love Mya. My relationship with Ian was totally different. I mean, you know how much of control freak he was. I didn’t have a choice with him. I’m not crazy. If you don’t want to be there for me, just say so. But, my mind is made up. Mya: Right. Okay. Son? A Son? Toya are you listening to yourself? The man can’t possibly take care of you and a child on his meager salary! Okay. Okay. Sh**! Toya honey, why are you rushing this? Let’s enjoy this trip, then go home and plan your wedding okay? We can go shopping for your dress, work on invitations and plan the bridal shower to end all bridal showers. You can also start settling your affairs back home. You have a couple of assignments still in the air you know. Toya: Mya, please sit down. I need to tell you something. But, no matter what, I know this is the most right thing in the world for me to do. I have never felt so sure about anything in my life. My career as a freelance photographer will still prosper in Jamaica. My entire life has been leading up to this moment, to this man. So, I don’t feel a rush. I want you to help me plan the wedding here. I am getting married on Sunday, and I need you here with me okay? The big wedding has never been my dream. I don’t need the fancy invitations, the church, everybody making a big deal over my day. I only want to walk along the beach to Fitz’s waiting arms. My parents will understand in time, but I have to live my life for Toya.

Now listen. I have to tell you something very important. Just before we came on this trip, you know that Ian was trippin’ hard. Well, he told me that he had taken extra measures to be sure that I would never leave him. Mya. Ian told me that he has been HIV-positive since college, and that he knowingly tried to infect me. I’m not sure if I’m positive or not. I took the test right before we left, and the results won’t be back for another week. I know. I know. I told Fitz before we became intimate. Mya honey, that man just loved me harder. He didn’t waiver even though he told me that he was afraid. He told me that he couldn’t let his fear control him, and he couldn’t loose me no matter what. *tears rolling down her face, a mixture of sadness and joy creating them.*

Mya: Baby girl! I’m so sorry. I want to kill him! Just say the word, and he is dead! *Begins to cry too. She reaches out to comfort Toya, and hesitates slightly. She knows that hugs and kisses are safe, but she is shaken and a little afraid.* You have to press charges against him Toya. He knowingly tried to take your life, for what? Control? Possession? What are you going to do? Did you tell Tradee before you slept with him last night? T how could you sleep with anyone not knowing your status? I think that was very irresponsible on your part. What if you infected Fitz? How will you live with yourself? Oh Toya! I’m so sorry! I love you, you are the sister I have never had. I can’t loose you! *Her body is racked with uncontrollable sobs as she grabs Toya and holds tight.*

*Tran hopes that Melodee has already left for work. He doesn’t want to run into her because he is not sure what he will tell her. Melodee won’t push to hard for an explanation about not returning to her last night, but she will want to know why he didn’t go to work this morning. He walks cautiously to his gate, and immediately feels that something is wrong. He notices the shattered window panes, and the slightly ajar door. Tran rushes through the front door, and pulls his pocket knife from his jeans.*

Delmar: Mel? Melodee? Whaa gwaan? Melodee ah mi Shotta. Yuh safe now…come hout. Nuh fret baby. Mel? *Tran inspects the entire house while calling out to here, and it appears that she had gotten ready for work and just left in a hurry. He still wonders about the windows, and decides he will call her later. He lets out a sigh of relief and runs his hands over his locs. Tran grabs a bag, and begins loading his clothes for the next week into it. He decides not to take too much so Melodee won’t get suspicious, and begin looking for him. Tran takes the cap with the diamond tennis bracelet from his drawer, and pulls the bracelet free of its confines. He can’t wait to present it to Mya at the right time, but he has to figure it all out first. He packs the bracelet in his bag for later. Tran decides to make an appearance at work, and pretend that he forgot he swapped shifts this week. He knows that his boss is an idiot, and will tell him to write down his schedule and leave. He will check on Melodee at that time too, knowing that she will not make a scene on her job.*
