Hey, Gabby......whoops, I mean Kimmy.....Was that guy hitting on you in that other thread or what? You were so cute how you handled him. I was cracking up.

I, personally, would not say I was going over her head, right off the bat. I would confront her as kindly and gently as I could and state my piece. Make sure you note somewhere what you said, who was there, and the date. You are going to want to protect yourself no matter what. Sometimes I don't think people realize how crappy they are managing until someone gets in their face and points things out. Just stay calm and tell her how it is effecting you. If it's all about you, it will seem okay. If you make it all about her, it will seem like an attack. Given a little time, and no change, I would go over her head without warning her.

But it has been almost 2yrs..when I'm working she is over my shoulder just jumps in and takes over I HATE THAT SO BADLY...mind u i have much more experience than her in the field except she has been with this company alot longer that me...i'm not bringing her up at the meeting it's more really about me and my steps of moving up. I try to tell he something her reply is..yeah I know, yeah and 2 seconds later does nothing. One girl was just being absent too much anf HR got involved to the point they were going to write her up..u think she has said a word to her seriously have a meeting with her? nope not once..so all she's saying is she did it to herself and they are forcing her hand..they r not forcing ur hand if u had sat down with ur employee from jump she wouldn't think she could get a way with certain things.

How long has she been in her role? If she's anything like I was, I was afraid to repremand(sp) anyone for fear they would not "like me" in the begining. It took me a while to get over it. Now everyone hates me or I'm the best supervisor in the world until I write somebody up. It's still hard. I am the youngest nurse on our shift, with many of those who I supervise being the same age as I. I don't care for management (middle in this case). I cannot wait until I'm done with school so I can move on. Maybe this person should do the same.

True, I wouldn't bring it up either. I would try to talk to her first. Just be straight and tell how you think she's a good "friend" but she needs to step up in her role, at least she'd at least have some forwarrning when it comes up again.

I bet she's still not comfortable. Esp if she's making comments like..."they are forcing me...blah, blah. Also if she dosen't have support from levels above her, because I tell you I get tired of trying to enforce rules no one else cares to enforce until something happens and someone. "bigger" gets involved. This could be the issue as well.

Thank you for helping me..this is just always a tough issue, and often stop people from making advancement b/c they are worried they are stepping on toes and going over someone's head. But this is the year that I have decided I come 1st I'm looking at my career. Of course i will not throw ppl under bus b/c I will protect my reputation at any cost. But I'm not going stop my advancement nor kiss butt, tactics is the key.

Well mi have mi meeting she gave me some pointers in what steps to take in the right direction career wise. Didn't mention my supervisor cause I realize it her is her nature..but I think it's gonna hold her back for the future.
