The fact that his name is on her BC, makes it difficult. I don't want to risk getting the passport, have him find out I'm gone on one of his 'visits' and calling in and filing a police report saying I kidnapped her....makes me scared to death...

Girl that can't happen. If you write the little disclaimer or get a court order for his appearance then you have covered your self.

PASSPORTS FOR MINORS

A minor is defined for passport purposes as an unmarried person under the age of 18 years. 22 CFR 51.27.

Either parent, whether a U.S. citizen or not, may apply for the U.S. passport for their minor child. However, the Two Parent Consent Law, effective July 2, 2001, requires that, for a child under the age of 14, both parents must consent to issuance, or the applying parent must document his/her sole authority to obtain a passport for the child. Thus, before a passport is issued for such a child, Passport Services will require evidence of one of the following: sole custody, a court order allowing the parent to travel with the child; a written statement under penalty of perjury that the other parent agrees to issuance or is unavailable, a termination of the other parent’s parental rights, or compelling humanitarian reasons relating to the welfare of the child.

Ok, Jene' u wouldn't be commiting perjury if u signed a consent form, b/c he is not around..u can't be a part-time day...or perdiem....makes me mad..u go try for the passport and put it to God b4 u do and believe that u will get it....good luck

That's it Kimmy!!! That's what I did. Write a quick note either on the application ( I think they give you room) or attach a note stating what I said before...Viola Baby Girl's passport!! Good luck Chica!!

No Je,

You are right madame. (Lord its too many posts for me to respond to individually, yall are busaaaaayyyyyy)

All I can say is, that they do make the laws harder for those who try to do right. Said 'donor' requested a paternity test, and was then ordered to pay child support. So therefore his name is on her BC required by law. Now just because he pays doesn't make him a father. He still does not show up, yet he legally has the RIGHTS of 'real fathers' but isn't exercising it the right way. The courts can't enforce it, and I'm not about to waste my time trying to convince him to do 'right'.

The fool ask me last time I saw him a few months ago, how do I spell her last name???

Anyway back on subject....the laws have changed and it is definitely harder to travel with a minor child, if you don't have papers showing custody. Now I probably could get her passport, but like someone else said...that she had to get a fax saying it was OK from her kids other parent to enter another country.

That's the other problem for me. He isn't around already to sign the consent form, and won't do it anyway because I've already asked, and then if I am issued the passport by means suggested, I'm still not guaranteed entry into the other country without written documentation or something from him saying 'its' ok. And then there is the risk of having traveled for nothing, coming back through customs to the US...and being detained for international kidnapping.

It's far too great a risk. If she loses me, she has no one...I think I just need to call ICE. I'd like her to meet her future stepfather...but...I'm ok with waiting. I love her more than anything else, so...even though I love him too...he's grown and he can take care himself and is not the greater risk!!!! LMAO.

phatmadam,

Please if he was so concerned about his child he would be living with him...

 but living is not even the point, just taking care of them , emotionally and physically.....

just living nah go mek it............you need to help out to..........

just my 2 cents.....

I am clueless as to what is going on with my knee. It just feels a little stiff and when I try and hurts only sometimes when I try go up the stairs.

Kimmy - that is too funny, he hands her off to you...men think when kids are crying they want their mother...

Gill - beautiful that you outsmarted him, why would he want to keep his sons back, I mean really and yes men can be jealous of dem owna pickney...

Jengles

I have same problem and one doctor told me that I have arthritis and one told me that I have bursitis. Anyway and anti-inflammatory would help. Aks your doctor about celebrex. My doc told em to exercise and loose weight (What, him mussi mad a him hed).:lol: I have some at home and when I aked a doc fried for his opinion he gave me the go ahead and I feel better after 2 days. Not that exercise won't help. but I need immediate relief. You can also try glucosamine and chrondroitin (OTC) to try to rebuild the cartilage in your knee.

Good luck and feel better.:thumbs:

Extremely well said Marie!! We have had this conversation before and I honestly think the American Educational structure is failing our Children!

Gill, I think the same way too. Its just amazing how things work in the US even with education. I went to an inner city high school where 99% of the students were not expected to go to college. I'm a first born and my parents did not go to college in the US so I was basically on my own, had to find things out for myself and try find a way to get into university. Many inner city schools push students into vocational areas (not saying this is a bad thing) but they don't expose them to college opportunities.

I read an article today in the gleaner about the pay increase for parliament members...the prime minister makes 4,706,344 (approx US$67,233)...thats crazy. Well I think Golding's doing a good job so far...especially with the free education

Ok so last night as I was trying not to smote my child because he didn't want to do his homework. mr jengles remarked how children up here get paid more attention. He said in JA kids come home from school and "fling dem bag in dem yard and dem gone" he says because we up here stay indoors more we pay more attention to our children. Now I don't think this is a JA thing but a carribean island thing and i'm asking because I never go a school in the west indies, but no from visting when younger. Mi gone all bout the place...

Now not trying to say kids are neglected or anything like dat,

he says our kids get into less trouble that way or have less opportunity for trouble.

what y'all tink

It's what I saw with my nieces, nephews, SILs and BIL....As long as there was daylight, they changed clothes and were gone. Homework was done after dark.

the funny thing is i think my son would like a life like that just come home and go and have fun in warm JA as opposed to being here right now

Jene,

do u have the original birth certificate with just your name on it if so then use that to get the passport....other countries won't turn you back if u have a passport and here once u have the passport the assumption is made that u showed the proper documents to get the passport. the best way is to file for sole custody and use the wrong address or something like dat...don't give in, your child deserves to go on vacation and see the world...back in the day when children could travel on birth certificates then more questions were asked and notes were needed. But the whole passport thing takes care of that up front and you do not have to travel with a passport and a child's birth certificate, just passport alone

clarien,

i was in the emergency room thinking i need to start taking the joint rebuilding stuff...lol...never to young to start.
