Doctor Ruben: Eh-llo…I’m Doctor Ruben. I specialize in Internal Medicine, and pretty much everything that passes through this medical center. So what seems to be the problem?

Tradee: Greetings frum de all high…Haile Selassie. My name is Travis McCoy, and my Empress…uhm…I mean my fiancée and I took a home pregnancy test last night. We found out that she was expecting my child, and this morning she took a fall in the bedroom. She was complaining about stomach pain, and now nothing. Is she alright? Please tell me that she and my baby are okay.

Doctor Ruben: Ehhmmm. I see. Is that right. Okay. Well, the first thing I must tell you is that we need to do another pregnancy test to ensure that it was not a false reading. Missus ?, did you notice any bleeding or spotting?

Mya: Summers. Mya Summers. I haven’t checked. Travis, my fiancé, picked me up and rushed me here. I feel fine after the initial shock of the fall.

Doctor Ruben: Okay. Well, let’s clear the room and you can put on a robe for the examination. Nurse, please bring Ms. Summers a robe to change into. Mr. McCoy, I’m going to have to ask you to wait outside as I do the examination; I assure you that it is purely precautionary and standard procedure.

Mya: NO! I mean, doctor I need him here with me. This is all strange for me, and I can’t do this alone. It’s okay. I don’t mind if he witnesses the exam. Please!

Doctor Ruben: Well, I guess if you are positive. I don’t see a problem with him staying.

Tradee: Mya baby, I’m not going anywhere. I’m right here. I love you babes.

Mya: I love you too Travis. *Mya grabs Tradee’s hand as she reclines on the examination table.*

The doctor and nurse work quietly side-by-side as the doctor draws four vials of blood. He directs Mya on lying low on the table and placing her heels in the stirrups. He explains that he will be examining her uterus, tubes, ovaries and cervix.

Doctor Ruben: Okay, Ms. Summers. I’m all done here. You can get dressed, and I will be back shortly with the results. Are you comfortable? Do you need anything?

Tradee: How long before we know something sir?

Mya: Travis. Please be patient. That was rude of you. I apologize doctor. He is a little worried about me and the baby.

Doctor Ruben: *Chuckling* It’s okay. It’s actually refreshing to see a young couple so excited about starting a family. Mr. McCoy, your fiancée is okay. I will let you know shortly about the results of the blood work. Now, if you both will excuse me, you may get dressed Mya.

The nurse rolls her eyes at Mya ruefully, and watches Tradee with unconcealed want. She can’t believe that she has never run into him in St. Ann. She sighs loudly and leaves the room. Oh how she would love to burst their happy little baby bubble.

Mya: I don’t want to fight anymore Travis. Please. I love you, not your brother. I have never loved your brother. He told me that he either didn’t use condoms with me, or that he damaged the ones he did use. I thought I was being so careful. I feel horrible. I want this to be our baby Travis. But…but what if it really is Delmar’s child?

Tradee: Hush babes. He only tried to rattle you. You and I both know the night you got pregnant. You felt it right? I know that I did. We don’t need a DNA test to know that I’m the baby’s father.

Tradee walks up to Mya, and stands between her delicately parted legs. He kisses her tenderly. Mya warms under his ardent attention. She wraps her arms around his neck as she pulls him in closer. Soon, they are fully reclining on the examination table completely becoming engrossed in the heat of the moment.

Nurse: Eeehhhnnn? EXCUSE MI! Dis his not oonu bedroom. Mi beg yuh fe show some small level of respect and broughtupsy! Cha. The doctor asked me to advise you that he had a small emergency, and he will be in shortly.

Tradee: Eh? Missus…mi juss wan fe knoa if mi breed har. Yuh knoa de results same wey as de doctor doan? Whaa gwaan?

Nurse: Mista Rasta, mi his nuh at liberty to discuss de details of the examination. The docta soon come. *Looks around nervously* Hactually, can mi chat tuh houtside wan minute Ras?
