Let's stay on topic (a newsworthy event) and put to rest the bickering otherwise this thread will be closed.

This is a good thread. It is informative and helpful. The majority here are doing all we can to continue this thread in the spirit in which it was started. It would be a shame that it would be closed because some cannot stay on topic. I think that if you close it and we opened another one to replace it, it would not be long before the same problem sprouted up. The problem is not the thread.

This is a thread about monster fires in California. It is not about politics. It is also not about Global Warming. Might I suggest opening a thread based on those two concepts and run with it. Hopefully we can keep this thread going so that all may be informed by eyes on the scene and other good information shared in this tradegy.

Our hearts and prayers go out to all who are affected by this awful event and wish them only the best possible outcome.

Calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant" is like calling a drug dealer an "unlicensedregistered pharmacist". (because somebody gives a damn)

Everything posted here was legit! its just when a few try to read things into something that isnt there or the opinions dont match theirs, they run to the forum admins complaining.

News reports now say that there are two new fires near Camp Pendleton which is much closer than San Diego - actually it's only about 12 miles from us. So far 384 square miles burned and 500,000 people evacuated from SD county. Two helicopters fighting the Santiago Cyn fire have been grounded because of dangerous conditions. It's bad out there, apparently will be until late tomorrow - all they keep saying is it's out of control.

And it's not just about financial ability to rebuild it's as much about the emotional devastation, and the loss of your home, which is more than a house, the loss of personal things which contain memories which can never be replaced. Not everyone in OC is in the elite class, so please people spare a thought for people who live here for reasons other than that they are loaded with money.

Whatever class of society is affected by such devastation still feels the loss, no less if you're rolling in money. There but for the grace of God it coudl be any one of us - then those people woudln't be so quick to say it's not that bad.

Anyway - stay safe everyone

I'd like to take this time to point out that no amount of praying is going to stop this fire. Try a rain dance if you're feeling religious-ish.

Be safe out there.

The steps of the rain dance itself are quite intricate, and unlike circle dances, which are seen in many Native American ceremonies, the men and women stood in separate lines and made zigzagging patterns. It is significant that, while many Native American rituals involved only men, or at least, were more concerned with their influence, the rain dance involved both men and women, showing the importance of rain to the entire community. This rain dance was meant to bring rain for the entire year or for a specific season.

Or a dance to make the wind stop blowing, if such a thing exists

Monster fires create their own weather pattern. The wind is most likely caused by the fire itself.

Do they know what sparked the fires?

Hope everyone is safe.
